Man Invited Woman to His Home to Play Mobile Legend; Ended Up Sexually Assaulting Her Instead

Victims of sexual assault will have a lifetime of trauma and anguish to deal with, but sadly, all their attackers care about is their momentary gratification.

So, even if a victim makes it clear that she’s not consenting to sexual advances, her attacker will assault her anyway.

And sometimes, these sexual deviants will carry out their misdeeds even when their mother is in the same house.

In 2018, 20-year-old Lim Jing Wei met the victim through mutual friends. Lim had asked her out that year, but stopped when the woman did not reciprocate.

In the two years that followed, they met up several times together with a group of friends and once on their own.

On the day of the attack, the victim sent Lim a message inviting him to have a drink with her and her friend at her workplace.

At around 11 pm, the friend left and they had had supper, after which Lim invited her to his place to play Mobile Legends.

The victim agreed because she wanted to charge her mobile phone.

When they reached his house, Lim asked her to go to his bedroom while he spoke to his mother about something.

He later entered the room, shut the door, and begun playing the game. Shortly after, he asked her to lie down next to him in bed, but she declined.

He kept asking, however, and the victim eventually yielded so he would finally stop.

That’s when Lim began assaulting her; he got on top of her and started kissing her. She pushed him away and shouted “Aunty”, hoping his mother would come into the room.

It’s unknown where Lim’s mother was at the time.

The victim’s shouts for help did not deter Lim, who tried removing her long-sleeved top. She stopped him and said “no” at first, but eventually gave in, thinking he would be appeased.

But things only got worse, as Lim then sexually assaulted her. Shocked, the victim couldn’t react fast enough to stop him. She then told him to stop and moved away.

Lim did this, but then asked her to perform a sex act on him. She declined and suggested they cuddle, thinking once again that he would be appeased.

The 20-year-old agreed and soon fell asleep.

Texted Friends & Took Picture of Attacker’s IC

After he fell asleep, the victim dressed herself and started crying as she was traumatised by what happened.

She texted several friends asking if they could pick her up, and took a photo of her attacker’s IC after finding his wallet.

She calmed herself down and looked for the man’s keys, so she could leave his flat.

One of her friends later helped her to make a police report, and Lim was apprehended.

Man Admits to Offences

Yesterday (10 June), Lim pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual assault by penetration. Another charge of attempted rape will be taken into consideration for sentencing.

The incident left the victim so psychologically distressed that she began having suicidal thoughts and panic attacks. She was also diagnosed with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Lim, who turns 21 tomorrow, will return to court next week for sentencing.

If convicted of sexual assault by penetration, he can be jailed for up to 20 years, fined, or caned.
