Remember back in the days whenever we got bored of Singapore, we will take our little red book, hop on a bus and appear in another country in under an hour?
Those good old days are about to become reality once again as the borders are finally not limited to citizens, residents and long-term pass holders of the respective countries but to everyone including people who just want cheap seafood.
More Land VTL Bus Tickets Available from 20 Dec When Borders Reopen for Everyone
From 20 Dec, vaccinated Singapore citizens can enter Malaysia via the Causeway and vice versa. Currently, only citizens, permanent residents and long-term pass holders of Malaysia can enter the country via the land VTL.

To cater to this commencement, designated bus operators of the land Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) will be able to sell 720 more tickets per day as well. That means there will be more bus services to the neighbouring country.
More Bus Services
Two of the bus operators said that they will be increasing the number of bus tickets by 50% on 20 Dec.
Causeway Link, one of the designated bus operators announced that there will be 10 more bus services in operation between Larkin Sentral in Johor Bahru and Queen Street in Singapore. The additional bus services will affect both directions.
In total, Causeway Link will operate 26 bus services in each direction daily from 20 Dec.
Similarly, there’s an additional 50% increase in the quota of tickets for Causeway Link bus services.
In short, 2,160 bus tickets towards Malaysia will be available from 20 Dec onwards as compared to the current 1,440 tickets a day.
Another bus operator, Transtar, also announced more bus services with new departure times will be available from 20 Dec. Passengers can start to book from 17 Dec onwards.

Currently, Transtar is operating 16 buses in each direction. They will be adding eight more services in each direction from next week onwards.
No Guaranteed If Land VTL Travelers Limit Will Increase
Despite allowing vaccinated Singaporeans into Malaysia and vice versa, Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) did not mention anything about the increase in the number of land VTL travellers into each country.
An MTI spokesman said they will be monitoring the demand first before reviewing and adjusting the limits accordingly. This will be done after they have taken into consideration of the public health situation in both countries.
