Thai Woman Allegedly Poisoned Her Own Son Then Seek Donations Online to ‘Treat’ Him

On 23 May, it was reported that a 29-year-old Thai lady was arrested by the police for allegedly poisoning a young boy, then seeking donations online to “treat his illness”.

She had admitted the 2-year-old boy into the hospital, claiming he was suffering from an allergic reaction to seafood.

After checking, the doctors couldn’t find any allergy but found something worse.

The 2-year-old boy, who was vomiting violently, “has traces of a corrosive chemical in the mouth, stomach and intestines”.

She Might Have Pulled The Same Trick Before

Checking the hospital records, it was found that she had previously brought a four-year-old girl to the hospital, claiming to be her mother.

The little girl had the same symptoms as the boy and eventually died.

After her death, it was discovered that the woman wasn’t the girl’s mother and another couple was listed on her birth certificate.

The boy’s birth certificate listed her as the mother but she refused to take a DNA test.

The Thai authorities also found out that this lady has changed her name four times.

Thankfully, the young boy is now in “stable condition” and is in the care of Thailand’s Department of Children and Youth, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

Crowdsourcing Online

With the internet, everything is now possible.

People are now able to share their stories and ask for help from strangers and said strangers don’t mind giving a bit of what they have to make someone happier.

Which is great, right?

Except sometimes, it just leads to tragedies like these.

This isn’t the first case of someone trying to cheat people via emotional manipulation, nor will it be the last.

But you have got to admit, for someone to hurt an innocent child just to manipulate donors’ emotions?

That’s a whole new ball game, and it might just be time for us to rethink our habit of donating online.
