It’s not exactly often that you see a GTA-style road chase take place here in Singapore.
But it appears that on 30 March 2021, such a case did occur.
According to The Straits Times, a 21-year-old male has been remanded after he led the Traffic Police on a high-speed chase, which later continued on foot.

According to the news report, the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m.
Apparently, the 21-year-old motorcyclist had been stopped by LTA officers along Farrer Road for a routine check.
Instead of complying, the male decided to circumvent the enforcement officers and swiftly headed for Queensway.
Unfortunately for him, the officers were not your run-off-the-mill doughnut-eating personnel who would be content with turning a blind eye to such events.
A high-speed vehicle chase soon erupted, and only ended around 4.5 km away when the motorcycle collided with a roadside kerb.
According to a witness, the motorcycle flipped over in the crash, causing its rider to fall off.
Yet even then, it was only the vehicle part that ceased. The chase continued.
On Foot
Unwilling to go into police custody, the rider tried to fight off the driver.
And though he was pinned at one point, he ultimately managed to break off the hold, and swiftly made a run for it.
Picking up his helmet, he dashed for the void deck, with the LTA officer in hot pursuit.
But it appeared to be all for naught.
He was eventually apprehended somewhere along Dover Crescent.
Police assistance was then requested.

According to The Straits Times, the rider is being held for traffic and suspected drug-related offences.
Police investigations are currently ongoing.
Not Often
Though infrequent, the aforementioned incident is still far from being the first time that a high-speed chase had occurred here in Singapore.
Back in September 2020, an early morning, GTA-esque car chase from the Central Expressway (CTE) to Canberra Street had occurred.
A 31-year-old driver had refused a routine check, and swiftly sped off.
The affiliated officers proceeded to give chase.
As a high-octane car chase ensued, it all came to a literal standstill when the fleeing car inadvertently mounted a kerb in Canberra Street and went colliding into a tree.
