71-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in CTE Collision; 67-Year-Old Taxi Driver Arrested for Careless Driving

A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a taxi on the Central Expressway (CTE) resulted in the death of a 71-year-old male motorcyclist in the early hours of Tuesday, 29 Apr 2025.

Authorities have arrested the taxi driver who was involved in the incident.

Fatal Collision on North-bound CTE Expressway

The accident occurred around 4:05 am on the north-bound section of the CTE towards Seletar Expressway (SLE), near the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 exit.

According to police reports, a 67-year-old male taxi driver was arrested following the incident on charges of careless driving without reasonable consideration, causing death.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the accident at approximately 4:15 am. An SCDF paramedic pronounced the elderly motorcyclist dead at the scene.

Video footage of the accident aftermath began circulating online around 6 am.


The dashcam recordings showed a blue tent set up on the extreme left lane of the expressway, with a yellow taxi positioned about 25m ahead in the same lane.

The motorcycle was visibly lodged beneath the taxi’s front bumper.

ComfortDelGro, the taxi operator involved, confirmed that they are fully cooperating with police investigations.

A company spokesperson stated that they have extended condolences and support to the family of the deceased motorcyclist.
