There are three ways to movie stardom.
One is to go to acting classes at a very young age, hone your acting skills and go to auditions.
If that doesn’t work, you can always choose to go the Youtube route and make waves until a notable director picks you up.
Or you can always go onto a world-renowned talent show and show off your talent to the entire world.
Then a notable director will love it so much he decides to make an entire movie based off you.
Reader: Pft yeah, right. And pigs will fly.
Okay, I don’t know if pigs can fly…
But the part about people going onto talent shows and becoming one big movie?
Yeah, that happened.
This is Riana and she was one of the (if not the) spookiest act the talent show has ever seen.
Here, you can watch it for yourself below:
Well, we’re not the only ones to have nightmares after watching the audition because, well, this 27-year-old girl who rarely breaks character, even off-stage, has her own horror movie now.
What It’s About:
The plot revolves heavily around Riana herself and her parents as they move into their Uncle Johan’s house after being forced out of their own.
In her uncle’s home, she then finds a doll called Riani and Riana soon finds herself being addicted to playing with her doll.
She got worse over the years until she would only talk to Riani and no one else.
This then leads to her going as far as to skip school because of her doll.
Her counsellor Cikgu Klara even tries to get her to snap out of it and brought her friends over to help.
But the situation to worsen when an ancient evil was released to terrorise all of them.

She’s Scary(ier) In Real Life
Before we went to watch the movie, we made sure to chase every single lead on the internet.
Things like if there are any weird happenings on the set or any “unfortunate” accidents.
And the most notable thing we got was from a report on how an interview with the Riana herself went.
The reporter said that he could “understand” how the judges on America Got Talent felt.
Before the interview, she spoke only to her manager, Bow Vernon, and kept to herself in a corner, playing with her doll.
How About The Movie Itself?
Be prepared to have the bejeebers scared out of you if you’re a horror novice.
The sound effects and the cuts of the scenes help to boost up the scare factor.
It doesn’t help that there are plenty of jumpscares (no, I’m not going to tell you where) to keep your heart pumping quickly and you on your toes.
There will also be a few scary characters introduced throughout the film, kind of like Dr Sleep, actually.
However, if we were to compare the creepy factor of Riana to the movie itself? Well, the Riana in real life’s creepier.
Just take note that while the movie explores how Riana became the girl she is today, it’s (supposed) to be fiction.
So how she became the girl on Asia and America Got Talent? Nobody knows.
But imagining all this happening in real life is pretty scary, isn’t it? And I shall end it there because I do not want Riana, or Riani, to come for me tonight.
The movie scored a rating of 7.5/10 on the IMDb charts.
The Sacred Riana: Beginning was released in Singapore in 12 Dec 2019.
