Maybe it’s because we have more free time at home now and we’re starting to notice a lot more things.

Many people have been called out for doing the wrong things online, including this dude who documents how he broke the 5-day MC rule and these youths who filmed themselves riding a MoBike into MacRitchie Reservoir.

And now, the latest person is MP Lee Bee Wah and her Selamat Hari Raya banner:

In the banner, she was dressed in a red baju kurung and white tudung, which has sparked plenty of discussions online:

Lee Bee Wah Responds To The Online Furore

On 17 May, MP Lee Bee Wah took to her Facebook page to address the Hari Raya banner.

She said that she has been doing this every year for Hari Raya. She celebrates the occasion at Ahmad Ibrahim Mosque and has normally worn “traditional Malay baju with Tudung to show respect to their religion”.

She went on to explain that she had checked with the religious teacher as well as the chairman of Ahmad Ibrahim Mosque and they both said that “it’s okay”.

It was added that her banner usually includes several of her Muslim residents.

But this time, because she wants to be sensitive to residents who cannot gather during Circuit Breaker, she decided to appear alone instead.

It’s not just Hari Raya either, and Mdm Lee also wore the traditional sari before to greet the Tamil, Sikh, Punjabi, Malayalee, Bengali and other communities in Singapore on their new year.

Mdm Lee Bee Wah is known for her quirky, funny way of telling stories in parliament.

Most recently, people in Singapore attributed the reopening of all Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) halls to her Oscar-worthy performance in Parliament.

And I can see why.

I mean, she even called the Health Minister out for not answering any of her questions.

End-result: All TCM halls allowed to open from 12 May 2020 even though cakes and desserts do taste better than Chinese medicine.
