Driving a vehicle always comes with its own set of risks.
However, it’s unfortunate when a road accident is fatal.
A 33-year-old Singaporean man has been arrested in Malaysia.

His Mercedes hit a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a four-year-old boy.
The Accident
According to Sinar Daily, the accident occurred at the 16 km mark of Sua Betong-Air Kuning Road on 7 September.
Aidi Sham Mohamed, the Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent, said the accident occurred at around 1:30 pm that day.Â
Muhammad Shaheizy Iman Muhammad Shazrein was on his way home from kindergarten.
He was riding pillion on his 26-year-old father’s motorcycle.
The Singaporean was driving a yellow Mercedes-Benz and cut in front of another vehicle before it hit the right side of the motorcycle the pair was riding.
Buletin TV3 reported that the car hit the motorcycle when it tried to turn right towards Ladang Sua Betong.Â
The victim was pronounced dead at Port Dickson Hospital.

He died while receiving treatment in the hospital.Â
His father, a technician, sustained some injuries.Â
He fractured his right shoulder and right leg.
The Singaporean, who remains unnamed, was unharmed.
According to Superintendent Aidi Sham, the driver underwent urine and breathalyser tests.

Both tests indicated that the Singaporean had no traces of drugs or alcohol in his system.
The Singaporean will be in remand until Sunday.
Meanwhile, local authorities will continue investigating the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (RTA) 1987.
If convicted, the driver could face at least two years in jail, up to a maximum of 10 years.
He can also face a fine of at least RM5,000 (S$1,460), up to a maximum of RM20,000 (S$5,835).

One video shows the damage the Mercedes sustained to the left side of its rear bumper.
One video was of CCTV footage from a nearby building.Â
The footage captured the accident from afar and showed numerous people running towards the accident site to help.
Another video showed the damage the motorcycle suffered.
Numerous pieces of the motorcycle were seen lying on the ground.

The motorcycle also looked to be pretty much destroyed.
Another video showed local residents shouting at the Singaporean.
Some appeared to be shoving the man in anger.
Local police have advised the public to refrain from speculating.

This statement came after a viral comment on social media claimed that the car involved in the accident was in a race before crashing into the motorcycle.

In November 2022, a similar accident happened in Phuket.
A 29-year-old Singaporean motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle on a hilly road and collided with a trailer.
Reportedly, he was killed instantly.
The female pillion on the motorcycle suffered internal bleeding.
Paramedics promptly transported her to a local hospital.
In August 2023, a 23-year-old Singaporean’s motorcycle collided with the back of a motor trailer just 9.5 km away from the Second Link.
He and his pillion, a 22-year-old woman, were flung onto the road.

The man, Mr Mohamad Ilyas Ilyasa Mohamad Ismadi, lost his life.
Meanwhile, the woman, Ms Nur Surya Emelya Mohamad Imran, was taken unconscious to the hospital and was later discharged.
