Every dollar counts.

A pack of cigarettes here. A canned drink there.

And at the end of the month, you’re left with more month than money.

One Malaysian girl found this out first-hand when she went cold-turkey on her bubble tea addiction and stopped drinking completely.

M’sian Who Quit Bubble Tea For 4 Months Managed to Use Saved Money To Go On Holiday

In Malaysia, a cup of bubble tea costs about RM10 (~S$3.29) or more.

Her sharp-eyed friend calculated all of her bubble tea posts and came to the conclusion that she had spent between RM384 to RM480 (~S$126 to ~S$158) over a 4-month period, it would be enough for a trip to Thailand and back.

Oof.

The ‘bubbly’ girl shared with China Press that she loved the taste of the tea and the chewy pearls coming together in her mouth.

Who doesn’t?

The lure of new bubble tea offerings by new bubble tea shops sprouting up all over Malaysia just proved too irresistible for the young girl. She just couldn’t stop herself from trying out all the new flavours that kept being released.

It earned Ms Bubble Tea the apt title of ‘Bubble Tea Expert‘ by her close friends.

Even after she had started reducing her ‘bubble teas’ in May, friends still kept telling her about new bubble tea flavours and outlets.

I guess sometimes the reputation you earn remains long after you’ve “grown up” and have moved on.

But…

She managed to save up enough money for a trip to Taiwan after quitting her bubble tea addiction completely in June.

Come to think of it, if you do it in Singapore and are as hardcore as her, you might be able to afford a holiday to Europe.

Just saying.
