Finding love isn’t easy.

In a world where physical characteristics trumps everything else, people with disabilities often have a tough time finding a partner who is willing to look past their “difference” and date them.

Fortunately, no matter how badly life has knocked you down, there’s always someone out there who is willing to pick you back up.

M’sian Lady With Bone Disease Marries Man Who Lost His Limbs

Take this couple in Malaysia, for instance, who will restore your faith in love and romance.

Chen Jing Qi, a Malaysian lady, and Xu Shi Huang, a Taiwanese man, first met online when they became friends on Facebook on 25 November 2018.

Just a year later, the couple decided to tie the knot, which is so much more heartwarming considering the tough experiences they faced in life.

Xu

Xu Shi Huang, originally from Taiwan, lost his limbs in an accident a while back and thought of committing suicide because it left him broken and depressed.

“At first when I saw that I lost my limbs, it was quite painful as I was a very active person. As I was immobile after the accident, all I could do is just lie down in the hospital bed, listen to the sound of the machines and cry.”

Can you imagine losing the very things you need for basic daily tasks? Xu was extremely depressed at first, but he grew to accept his fate started learning how to take care of himself.

Xu said he was encouraged by other people with disabilities, and started to learn how to write and paint using his mouth to inspire others in similar circumstances to do the same.

The love of his life, Chen Jing Qi, also has a heartbreaking story of her own.

Chen

Originally from Sandakan, Sabah, Chen was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease.

People suffering from this disease have brittle bones that can break easily. According to World of Buzz, something as small as a sneeze can cause their ribs to break.

Like Xu, Chen was initially very depressed about her condition. But after sharing her experiences with others, she started to gain a following. Her followers even nominated her for an award.

That, my dear readers, is a true influencer.

This gave her the belief and drive to pursue her dreams in spite of her disability. She now works as a life instructor in Taiwan.

Chen moved to Taiwan because she feels that the disabled are neglected in Malaysia.

“I have always wanted to go to school but 30 years have passed and yet the country has not improved. We are still people, you know? We also need friends, education, work and interaction with society,” she said.

Thankfully, Taiwan had a certain someone who she would later marry.
