There are a couple of things to note when we hop aboard an aeroplane.
The list is as follows:
- Don’t smoke onboard a flight.
- Don’t bring flammable liquids.
- And don’t place cameras in the plane’s bathroom.
Wait a minute.
Yes, now airlines and passengers have one more thing to worry about because that’s exactly what a Malaysian man did.
A 50-year-old Malaysian man, Choon Ping Lee, put a camera in an aeroplane bathroom on a United Airlines flight from California to Texas on 5 May.
He pleaded guilty to video voyeurism on Tuesday, 27 August and admitted to installing the camera in the bathroom.
He Could Be Deported
And get this: he could be deported since he isn’t a US citizen and is expected to face removal proceedings.
Yikes, can they just keep him? The further away he is from Singapore the better.
His punishment? 2 months in prison and a US$6,000 or S$8,300 fine.
Lady Found The Device In The Toilet
A female passenger found the device in the toilet. It was dangling near the door and blinking a blue light – did he really think no one would notice?
I mean, blue light? Isn’t it pretty obvious? Unless he was hoping people would assume it was a one-eyed demon haunting the toilet.
The footage from the camera was then reviewed and Lee was identified by what he was wearing.
He has been in custody since his arrest on 7 August.
Here’s a simplified summary of the South Korea martial law that even a 5-year-old would understand:
