M’sian Woman Finds Peeping Tom In Toilet At KL Mall And Reported It To Security But They Did Nothing

Being a woman must be difficult.

You always have to be on your guard against sexual deviants. And it seems like no place is safe from these creeps, even public toilets at a popular mall.

M’sian Woman Finds Peeping Tom In Toilet At KL Mall And Reported It To Security But They Did Nothing

A Malaysian lady, SK, recently had a horrible experience with a creep in a mall in Kuala Lumpur. Speaking to World of Buzz, SK said that she goes to this particular mall all the time to do her work at the cafes there.

On Monday (2 Dec) at around 9pm, SK was going to the toilet on the third floor when she came across a woman who looked troubled. SK asked her what the problem was, and she said that a man entered the women’s toilet and tried to peek at her from the space at the bottom of the toilet door.

Some guys are revolting.

The woman then warned SK to not use the toilets on this floor and SK asked her to report the incident to the security office at the mall.

That should have been the end of SK’s story right? Unfortunately, it wasn’t.

Happened again on 1st floor

SK took the woman’s advice and used the toilet on the first floor. She was extra careful before she used the toilet, checking the empty stalls for any Peeping Toms. They were all empty except for one occupied stall.

Satisfied, she went in to relieve herself.

However, as she was doing so, she saw a shadow of a head moving closer and closer to the ground and then she saw a man’s hand.

As you can imagine, SK was shocked.

She quickly pulled up her pants and screamed at the top of her lungs before opening the door of the stall, but the creep had already fled.

She left the toilet and looked around for any CCTVs that may have captured the Peeping Tom but found none in the corridor leading to the toilet.

She went back into the toilet stall she was in to collect her belongings and told the lady next door that there was a peeping Tom. She knew that the Peeping Tom wasn’t inside the occupied stall because she never heard any doors closing or opening ever since she went in.

Reported to security, security did nothing

Enraged, SK went to the security office to report the incident. The head of security ordered his staff to patrol the area to try and catch the perpetrator. They then showed SK some CCTV footage and asked her to identify the man.

The problem was that, as previously mentioned, there were no CCTVs in the corridor leading to the toilet on all floors. So, all they got was a blurry picture of a large man going into the women’s toilet after SK.

Later, when SK asked the security officers what they would do to make women feel safe in the mall, SK said that their answers were unsatisfactory and definitely not reassuring.

The security officers were attentive but clearly inexperienced and did not know how to respond to such an incident.

Not safe anymore

The incident, understandably, has shaken SK, who does not feel safe in the mall anymore.

“As a woman, I am very shaken and I do not feel safe anymore going to that mall on my own. It’s one of my favourite malls ever since I was a teenager and I have always found it to be a safe, family-friendly place.”

She also lamented the poor security and lack of CCTVs in the mall.

“I am writing this so that women everywhere do not let their guard down. If a 30-year-old hijabi like me can be preyed upon, it really doesn’t matter what you are wearing or doing. You just have to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time in a place with poor security controls or avenues for women to seek help.”

Please be extra cautious ladies. If you happen to be in KL and you’re visiting one of the malls, it’s probably best to bring a friend along with you if you need to use the restroom.

Then again, it’s probably wise to do that in Singapore as well, with the recent spate of outrage of modesty cases in the country.
