Singapore is filled with more superheroes than VR Man.

They’re our everyday men and women working tirelessly around the clock to keep Singapore moving and safe.

Including (but not limited to) our firefighters, police officers, ICA officers, soldiers (forced or not), SMRT engineers, etc.

And it doesn’t hurt that at least one of them knows how to take a joke. SCDF social media team, I’m looking at you.

And now, we’re going to talk about a smuggling dream gone up in smoke.

Crispy On The Outside, Chewy On The Underside

Mmmm.

Unfortunately for the delivery guy and his friend, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at Tuas Checkpoint decided to stop the van for further checks.

And they managed to find this.

And it’s not one hundred satchets. It’s not even 200 satchets.

It’s 7,500 satchets of chewing tobacco. That could last a person a single life time.

The would-be smugglers are a 32-year-old male Malaysian driver and his 30-year-old Malaysian passenger.

They were both passed on to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for follow-up actions.

We Will Always Keep S’pore Safe

ICA finished off their post with a pledge to always keep threats to Singapore out of Singapore.

They added that their officers will continue to do such checks on passengers and vehicles, all in the name of keeping out undesirable people, illegal contrabands like drugs, weapons, explosives and more.

They remind Singaporeans that this time, it might be chewing tobacco, but next time, it could’ve been something that’ll cripple Singapore for a long time, like an explosive or weapons.

In other words, please don’t complain about the long waiting time at the checkpoints. It’s all for your own good.

Netizens Thank ICA Officers

Well, there’s only one proper response.
