M’sia’s ‘Raja Bomoh’ Suddenly Admits That His Rituals Were Fake…For a Good Reason

In a surprising move, Malaysia’s “Raja Bomoh”, or Shaman King, Ibrahim Mat Zain, admitted in a press conference that all his controversial rituals in the past were fake.

This was surprising not because people actually believed what he did, but because nobody expected a press conference was necessary for the reveal. I think we’ll be hard pressed to find anyone who unironically believed in the Raja Bomoh’s antics.

He performed “rituals” during the MH370 crisis, and during the recent diplomatic issue with North Korea, usually waving bamboo poles or coconuts around.

He admitted to being completely ridiculous at the press conference held in the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department’s (Jawi) office. He said, “Now I no longer want to be known by the title Raja Bomoh and regret all my past actions. I apologise to all Muslims in Malaysia and in the world.”

His admission was part of the guilt plead, as he was recently arrested and charged under Section 7(a) of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997. The Section covers offences of insulting or bringing Islam into contempt, and is punishable by a maximum RM3,000 fine or a maximum 2-year jail term, or both.

Apparently, the Raja Bomoh was acting from orders, but he wasn’t at liberty to disclose who ordered him to do it. The rituals were supposed to create a merry situation during times of distress, but unfortunately whoever had ordered him to do so had forgotten that insulting the national religion wasn’t very funny at all.

Due to Ibrahim’s health and age, he was ordered to serve 6 months in jail on good behaviour, and go through classes on faith and religious obligations.

It is hoped that he might learn his lessons, and repent on his actions.

I guess now we have the definite answer that bamboo and coconuts cannot find plane wrecks or stop nuclear war.

What a bummer.
