Two Singaporeans have been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing a 25-year-old Malaysian man in JB.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Two Singaporeans Accused of Stabbing 25-Year-Old Man to Death Outside JB Nightclub
On Saturday (28 October), two Singaporean men, aged 26 and 29, found themselves in front of the Malaysian courts for their alleged involvement in a murder that occurred outside a JB nightclub.
They also found themselves in front of several reporters and challenged the reporters to take photos of them.
One of the two Singaporean suspects allegedly shouted at the media: “Take photos of me! Take photos of me!”
He also added: “Have you guys not covered murder cases before?”
According to China Press, another Malaysian woman was also arrested in connection to the murder.
However, it appears that the Malaysian woman was slated to be released later that day, while the two Singaporean suspects will remain in police custody for an additional day.
Let’s take a closer look at how everything unfolded on the night of the murder.
Deceased Was Stabbed At Least Nine Times Outside JB Nightclub
The murder occurred on Friday (27 October), around 3:41 am, outside a KTV nightclub on Jalan Sutera 3, Taman Sentosa, Johor Bahru.
A 25-year-old Malaysian man, reportedly named Xie Zhiyu (hanyu pinyin), was exiting the KTV nightclub and walking towards his car when a man in a white tee attacked him.
According to China Press, although Xie attempted to escape, his efforts were to no avail. He was eventually stabbed at least nine times by the man in white, suffering injuries to his chest, abdomen, ribs, shoulder, back, fingers, and face.
But even with his injuries, Xie managed to escape to a nearby coffee shop after the assailant fled the scene.
Yet, it was already too late for Xie—his injuries were too severe.
While Xie was seen on CCTV footage sitting on a chair beside the coffee shop and using his phone for a short while, he eventually fell out of his chair and onto the floor.
The 25-year-old had succumbed to his injuries.
Police only arrived at the scene thereafter. Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
Murder Suspects Crashed Audi Into JB Palace While Evading Police
You might be wondering: Did the man in white successfully flee?
Duh, of course, he didn’t. He appears to be one of the three suspects subsequently arrested by the police—here’s how the authorities found them.
After Xie’s murder was brought to the police’s attention, the authorities quickly began their search for the assailant. It was at this point that they were alerted to a “suspicious” Singapore-registered Audi sedan.
Ah, great timing.
When Malaysian police attempted to intercept the Audi, the Audi sped off, presumably in an attempt to evade the police.
However, the driver, a Singaporean man, eventually lost control of the Audi, skidding into the opposite lane and crashing into two oncoming cars before crashing into the JB palace.
The police arrested the driver, alongside his two “passenger princesses”—a Malaysian woman and another Singaporean man who were also in the Audi.
It is unclear which of the two Singaporean men was the assailant.
The police also seized a knife from the vehicle.
And to top it all off, all three of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

Deceased Was Allegedly Romantically Involved With the Malaysian Woman
So, two Singaporean men and a Malaysian woman were arrested in relation to Xie’s murder, but what exactly was their “beef” with Xie?
Well, we don’t know for sure as of yet, but it appears that love is part of the script.
According to China Press, the Malaysian woman allegedly surnamed Yeoh was romantically involved with one of the Singaporean suspects—until they broke up two weeks ago.
The woman then met Xie at the nightclub and got romantically involved with him.
Regardless, it appears that on the night of the murder, Yeoh got back together with her ex-boyfriend—one of the two Singaporean suspects.
Later, in what seems to be an UNO Reverse move, Yeoh allegedly demanded RM5,000 (S$1,430) from Xie that night and for him to be slapped, accusing him of molesting her.
In response, Xie requested a day for him to get the RM5,000.
And when Xie left the nightclub to walk to his car, he was stabbed to death by the male Singaporean suspect.
The thing is, it’s unclear whether these “romantic relations” that Xie allegedly had with Yeoh happened—according to Shin Min Daily News‘ interview with Xie’s father, Xie’s family did not know whether Xie was involved with anyone at the time.
We can only wait for investigations to reveal more details in time to come.
Deceased Rarely Went to Nightclubs, According to Deceased’s Father
According to Shin Min Daily News, the deceased was the eldest son in his family of four—he had a younger brother.
Xie’s father described Xie, who was employed as an electrician, as a filial son.
But here’s where it gets interesting.
Although the murder happened outside the nightclub, the deceased’s father shared that the 25-year-old rarely went to nightclubs.
“On the night of the incident, he drove and went out alone. We didn’t know how he found himself in trouble,” Xie’s father added.
So, what’s your take on the incident? What do you think were the suspects’ motives behind the murder?
