Children are bound to make mistakes.
After all, they are still learning the ways of the world and how to do the basic things in life.
A good parent would recognise this and will calmly help their child understand that there is a problem that needs to be fixed so they can learn from it.
A bad parent might criticise them, shout at them, or even give them a smack.
Now it turns out that there’s a third category that we weren’t previously aware of:Â sociopathic parents.Â
Man Accused of Killing 4YO Stepdaughter in Bukit Batok After She Peed Outside Toilet Bowl
There’s no error in the headline; a man really did end up killing his four-year-old stepdaughter after she peed outside the toilet bowl.
The horrific incident occurred at the family’s rental flat in Bukit Batok back in 2018.
The man, Muhammad Salihin Ismail, is now on trial for the murder of Nursabrina Agustiani Abdullah.
In 2016, Salihin married the girl’s mother, Syabilla Syamien Riyadi, when the victim was two-years-old.
The couple also has a pair of twin boys together.
In Feb 2017, Salihin was released from the Singapore Armed Forces detention barracks, though no further details were released in court.
In Sep 2018, the couple was trying to toilet-train Sabrina, as she was starting pre-school soon.
On the morning of 1 Sept 2018, Â Syabilla had left for work, leaving Salihin with her daughter.
Salihin became angry when he saw a puddle of urine on the floor just outside the toilet.
Instead of simply correcting her behaviour, the man placed the girl on the toilet bowl and punched her in the stomach a few times.
In the afternoon, the girl had gone to the toilet on her own as Salihin had instructed. But the girl had urinated on the floor again, infuriating Salihin.
So, he pushed her to the floor, and kicked her stomach at least twice while she was lying on her side.
As she cried, he picked her up and hit her again in the stomach.
In the evening, when Syabilla returned home from work, Sabrina complained of stomach pain after eating some rice for dinner.
She then began vomiting, which carried on into the night.
She lost consciousness the next morning after Salihin used his finger to ease her vomit.
He then carried her out of the toilet and told Syabilla to call for an ambulance.
Paramedics arrived at around 9.30am, but it was too late; the girl was not breathing and had no pulse rate.
The girl was pronounced dead at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital at 10.12am.
An autopsy revealed the victim died from internal bleeding due to blunt force trauma of the abdomen.
Also Scalded Her with Hot Water
But that wasn’t the only time Salihin abused his stepdaughter.
Between July and October 2017, he scalded Sabrina with hot water flowing from a shower head, which he had allegedly placed on her back for five to six seconds.
Why?
Because he was trying to save on electricity costs and was angry at her for not wanting to shower with cold water.
He also hit her head against the floor in 2018, Â allegedly because he was upset with her for hiding under the bed when he was trying to feed her.
Facing Death Penalty
The man is now accused of causing his stepdaughter to suffer fatal injuries, and is facing two other charges for acts of violence against the girl.
He has reportedly already confessed to assaulting her in his police statements and psychiatric interviews.
The prosecution said it only needs to prove that Salihin intended to inflict the fatal injuries to get a conviction.
If found guilty of murder, Salihin, faces the death penalty or life imprisonment.
