AMK Man Who Was Murdered Was a Jewellery Designer Who Kept to Himself

The news of a dispute turned violent which resulted in the death of one of the people involved yesterday at a residential unit on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 shocked many on our tiny Red Dot.

This is especially true seeing that there was another murder that occurred following a VERY heated dispute between neighbours just a few days before.

Anyway, the 51-year-old man and 39-year-old Vietnamese woman involved in the dispute ended up exchanging so many blows that they were both found with multiple wounds when the police arrived.

Both were conscious when they were sent to the hospital.

Unfortunately for the woman though, the man ended up passing away from his injuries.

She will be charged in court with murder once she is discharged from the hospital later today.

If convicted, she will face the death penalty.

According to his neighbours, the 51-year-old had lived at Block 562 for over 10 years.

The deceased was described as “quiet and reserved”, and didn’t interact with his neighbours, keeping mostly to himself.

Based on some investigating by Shin Min Daily(新明日报), the man was a jewellery designer.

Back when he first moved to the block, he was with his first wife, a woman from Hong Kong.

That marriage didn’t last and he ended up with his second wife, a Vietnamese.

When interviewed, neighbours have nothing but praise for the second wife.

She was described as being “pleasant to talk to”, “was well liked” and would frequently send food over to her neighbours.

To put it simply, she was very neighbourly and friendly.

The next-unit neighbour, Mdm Ong, told reporters that the second wife left around last year, and another Vietnamese woman, a 39-year-old, subsequently moved in.

She’s the third wife, maybe?

That being said, the third time isn’t the charm for this 51-year-old man, apparently.

The neighbour who lived directly opposite the couple’s unit, a 40-year-old operations manager, Mr Royston Albert, said that he heard the couple quarrelling loudly.

“I heard them shouting at each other just two days ago. Even though I just moved in two weeks ago, I already heard them fight about twice.”

He added, “I also heard things moving around in their house, as though objects were being thrown around.”

According to the police, the Vietnamese woman and the man were believed to be the only occupants of the unit.
