The 42-year-old Johor-born musician, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, is currently held in a six-day remand until 10 Nov 2025 as police investigate the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin in a Kuala Lumpur hotel.

“Very Shuai”

“Very Shuai”, which translates to “Very Handsome”, is an old demo originally recorded in 2014 for his band, P-High.

The song parodies the male obsession with bravado, image, and “coolness” in online culture. It contains lyrics such as “sorry goodbye please don’t cry” and details how he rejects women who confess their love for him.

According to The Star, Namewee had announced the song’s release before becoming involved in the murder investigation. The track was scheduled for release weeks in advance rather than being a deliberate move while the rapper is detained.

Hsieh’s manager criticized the release as inappropriate and untimely. “I understand his fans are definitely excited, but can’t he wait until the investigations are over before releasing the song?” the manager told China Press.
