If you’ve ever tried to plan a surprise party for your significant other, you’d know that it’s incredibly hard to keep it secret.
The human brain seems incapable of keeping secrets for longer than 36 hours, as our biological instinct is to release any confidential information as soon as possible. Our heads would combust into flames otherwise.
Then, the surprise is ruined, and everyone feels as deflated as the unblown balloons all over the floor.
Not everyone is like this, though. Some are strong enough to keep a budding fetus from their partners.
Influencer Naomi Neo Managed to Keep Her Pregnancy from Her Husband for 3 Months
For her second pregnancy, Singapore influencer Naomi Neo wanted to surprise her husband and family.
So, she kept her pregnancy a secret for three months.
Neo shared a video of the pregnancy reveal on her YouTube channel on Friday (24 July).
The reveal was set up as part of a birthday celebration for her husband, Han.
The fun started with a guessing game for Han as a tease before she revealed the big news.
In the game, Han had to use his five senses to identify objects Neo presented to him.
The first test was easy enough; Neo fed Han some mystery food, and Han managed to guess that it was corn porridge.
In the second test, which was also the most disgusting, Neo held up a soiled diaper to Han’s nose, hoping he would be grossed out.
But, surprisingly, Han said he couldn’t smell anything.
If you have trouble smelling a baby’s poop-filled diaper, you probably need to get your nose checked out, because something’s not right.
Han then had to guess what their 2-year-old son Ky was saying in a video.
Neo’s mother helped him out, accurately deciphering the phrase “wo ai ni (I love you)” from the video.
Since he passed the tests (more or less), Han was rewarded with a video of birthday greetings from his friends and Neo.
The Reveal
The touching five-minute video brought Han to tears, as Neo talked about their relationship and how important he was to her.
The video ended with clips of Neo’s ultrasound, and many of Neo’s relatives thought they were from her first pregnancy at first.
Once they learned the truth, Neo’s mother broke down and hugged her, saying, “You’ve got another one?”.
“I keep for three months already!” Neo said.
When Han asked if Neo’s parents knew, she said, “If I tell the both of them, you’ll long time know already!”
Exactly. Humans are not designed to keep secrets.
Han joked that he now knows why she so faithfully took her vitamins every day, because they were for the baby.
At the end, Neo asks Han if he’s happy, and he nods with a smile.
First Trimester was a “Crazy Experience”
In a Facebook post after the pregnancy reveal video, Neo said that her first trimester was “a pretty crazy experience”, since she had to go through most of it alone.
She said her baby is doing well so far and promised to share more updates along the way.
She also thanked everyone for the outpouring of love.
“Thank you everyone for your well-wishes and I’m sorry I haven’t been able to reply to all your messages, but please know that they are well received and I’m extremely thankful for the overwhelming love/support so far”.
