Nas Daily Buay Tahan a S’porean’s Complaint & Passively Aggressively Fired Back

Lest you’re unaware, popular vlogger channel Nas Daily recently released a video about our own lovely Singapore, in which he lauded it for being an “almost perfect country”.

You can view the video in question below:

But then something downright tragedic in nature occurred.

Singaporeans started complaining. A lot.

And while Nuseir Yassin, the face of Nas Daily, was civilised and rational in responding to them (even though it was kind of clear they were complaining for the sake of complaining)…

Even he had a limit you can’t break.

Nas Burn

If you’re familiar with Nas Daily, you’d know that he responds to many comments, and usually (or almost every time), he’s nice about it. To him, it’s all about agreeing to disagreeing.

But there’s a limit after all.

What happens when you challenge someone like Nas Daily to your own narrow-minded, entitled views?

Well, you get a burn.

A Nas Burn.

On 18 September, Facebook Page The Alternative View published a derogatory response to Nuseir Yassin (Nas’ real name)’s much-circulated video.

Transcript:

“Nuseir Yassin professes to be an authority on S’pore after spending only a few days here.

Now since he is so effusive in his praise of the country and Lee Hsien Loong, we invite him to walk the talk and take up citizenship.

But wait, don’t stay in a posh condo in town. Be like the majority of us:

  1. Buy a resale HDB flat but with half the lease left.
  2. Serve the full 2.5 years of National Service (not 2 years please) and no clerical jobs too.
  3. Contribute the full 37% of his salary to CPF.
  4. Visit only polyclinics and government hospitals (C class wards only please – provided he can wait up to 5-7 hours).
  5. Take the MRT train every morning and evening during peak hours.”

Now, the post does kind of make sense and considering the number of likes it garnered… I dare say a number of Singaporeans related as well.

But others disagreed, and one of them happened to be the man himself.

Nuseir Yassin.

And in true Nas Daily fashion, the response was well-thought out, sufficient and above all…

Savage af.

“I have a better idea:

Why doesn’t everyone here try to live in the Middle East for a little bit?

Maybe live in Israel as an Arab Muslim like me and see how it’s like to be a second class citizen your entire life.

Try sleeping one night with rockets falling near your village and you can’t sleep because of sirens

Try living in a state of war every few years with all your neighbors.

Try having your options in your country limited simply because of how you are born (non Jew)

Try living at a place with 40% less of your current GDP Per Capita

That’s what I had to live. I’ll happily take your air conditioned public transportation over living in the Middle East.

One thing my travels have taught me is that a lot of people lack PERSPECTIVE. And in Singapore, too many people lack it.

I flew to Singapore from Papua New Guinea, on my own dime to promote my own beliefs. Now I’m in China making the same videos. I’ll happily take you along the ride and see how life is like outside of your bubble.

But to be honest, I would never hire you. I don’t work well with crybabies.”

And it’s not just one… flame

Or two, for the matter. Because from the looks of it…

Other Singaporeans were keen to tear into the argument as well.

Welp…

It looks like Singaporeans are more rational than people give them credit for. 🙂

Singapore

True, Singapore does have a lot of flaws. Singaporeans aren’t exactly content (as you can kinda tell), and the cost of living is undoubtedly high.

Worst of all, the McSpicy is spicy af.

But Nas Daily acknowledges that notion. Despite raving about the country as a whole, he does state Singapore is an “almost perfect” country. In fact it’s right there on the thumbnail, so there’s really no pardoning if you missed that.

So folks, instead of discrediting the country as a whole because you’re so busy being discontent…

Why don’t you try wearing other shoes instead?

After all, there’s a reason why people are constantly vying for the Singaporean passport.

Also, don’t pick an argument with Nas Daily. Because much like Eminem…

He doesn’t go easy on you.
