If there was a petition banning you from entering a country, would you still go?
Travel video blogger Nas Daily, also known as Nuseir Yassin, says yes.
Nas has posted 1,000 one-minute travel videos on his Facebook page. He has visited between 50 to 60 countries since 2016, and his last visit to Singapore was last year.
Scary Dengue Warnings
In an article published by The New Paper, it was reported that Nas was fearful of the dengue warnings on his first visit to Singapore.
There were many posters cautioning people about dengue fever.
He equated dengue with malaria and was afraid of contracting the disease while he was on the island and even wondered why he was even here.
He was on a one-day layover and landed at 11 pm, only to find his hostel closed.
So he spent the night on the rooftop of the hotel.
After seeing the vibrancy and craziness of the city the next morning, he fell in love with it. He decided that he had to give Singapore a shot.
Abundant Business Opportunities
Why Singapore? Nas said that he values the good living conditions and friendliness of Singaporeans.
Besides that, it is also near many places where he enjoys making content and would like to visit again.
It was only after he had created Nas Daily, that he recognised the business opportunities that Singapore offered.
According to him, he made the decision to move to Singapore because of the good environment for businesses. The country offers clear guidelines on how to set up and build a business.
Interestingly, in his Instagram post, he states that he believes in “this part of Asia might be the new America”.
By “this part of Asia” he refers to Singapore. The new America? So can we expect Disneyland anytime soon? (I’m joking, but please. I would really like one.)
Videos first worry later
Nas is aware of the petition ongoing, but he isn’t worried about it.
“I don’t think about it. It is a small percentage compared to 120,000. I won’t focus on it until it gets 100,000 signatures,” said Nas. The 120,000 is the Likes he received after he announced his intention to make Singapore his home for the next few months or years.
Humourless Humour
The petition has gained 3,621 signatures since it was first started 5 days ago.
It was meant to be satire, at least at first, and was uploaded by Azman Samsudin, a freelance singer/songwriter, dancer and part-time bartender.
He made the petition in response to the “Ban Watain” petition, which called for a ban on the heavy metal band.
However, it soon changed.
In an interview with ricemedia, Azman shared that when Nas started talking about Islam, he had to have his say.
And no, he did not start the “Ban Watain” petition.
Whatever it is, we can be sure of one thing: you’re going to see more of Nas Daily in your Facebook feed soon.
