Hawkers are some kind of saints. They wake up early to prepare their food, work long hours and sometimes have to deal with unreasonable customers.
Even worse now with safe distancing measures, where food stalls can have massively long queues and waiting times.
So be nice to your local hawker.
Don’t be a jerk and threaten violence because of long waiting times.
Inconsiderate Customer
Sometimes you just have to wait.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, a man allegedly threatened to attack a staff member at a nasi lemak stall in Yishun Park Hawker Centre.
All because he had to wait a while for his food.
Stomp reported that the stall, Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang, took to Facebook to share about the incident.

The incident had occurred on 27 September 2020.
A woman had ordered two nasi lemak sets at around 10.21am and was told it would take 15 minutes, which she agreed to.
Only about five minutes later, her husband went to ask for the food, in which he was informed of the original waiting time.
So he went on his way and waited again, and live happily ever after.
Except that he didn’t.
The husband instead started to berate the staff and according to the hawker, “told us that we should serve him and the takeaways after him.”
Almost as if there still wasn’t ten minutes of waiting time on the clock left.
Self-entitlement aside, what’s next is what sparked the viral incident.
Threatened Physical Violence
The stall said that they did not tolerate rudeness and decided to return the man his money.
“However he continued his tirade and even threatened to punch and throw hot coffee on my staff.”
Thankfully, a bystander informed Lianhe Wanbao that no physical violence actually happened between the man and staff member.
A police report was also made following the incident.
As of today, the matter seems to have been settled.
The original Facebook post, which included an image of the customer, was updated with a message from the stall.
It seemed that the man had contact with the police and apologised. The stall has also removed any pictures of the man and thanked those who encouraged them.
We got a happy ending out of this one, unlike some other cases where people continue to beat the victim when they’re unconscious.
The moral of the story is pretty simple: just be patient. These stalls have a lot of customers and sometimes you just have to wait a bit.
Or just cancel your order and walk off, because some food just isn’t worth the wait #truestory
