It’s that time of the year again.
Yes, Singapore’s one and only National Day Parade that falls on 9 Aug every year.
Now, seeing as the main event has to be more than perfect, you can expect Singapore to rehearse over and over again.

We’re kiasu that way.
And what do rehearsals mean?
It means NSFs who are involved can only go home on Saturday evening instead of Fridays.
And selected roads are closed periodically.
So if you’re a driver, listen up because road closures are a b**ch and a half to deal with if you’re not prepared.
An Overview
This year, NDP 2019 will be held at the Padang.
There will be a total of eight rehearsals and one main event day. I.e., the road closures will take effect on nine days.
They are:
- 15 June 2019
- 22 June 2019
- 29 June 2019
- 6 July 2019
- 13 July 2019
- 20 July 2019
- 27 July 2019
- 3 August 2019
- 9 August 2019
In a nutshell, it’s all on Saturdays and it’ll begin this weekend.

TL; DR: Saturday isn’t a good day for driving into town anymore, at least until NDP 2019 happens and the fireworks burn into ashes.
But if you still need to drive into the city area, here are the specific details you’d have to know.

An Exciting Air Show
When it comes to the NDP, there are a few things that Singaporeans look out for: the marching contingents, the airshow and the fireworks (my money~).
And the airshow this year is going to be exciting.
Other than the usual crazy flight patterns our RSAF boys pull off on their planes
There’ll be a new addition to the show as well: the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) A330 Tanker Transport aircraft.

According to Mindef, this powerhouse is better at refuelling planes in the air, lift up to 37,000 kg worth of load and it can be used for medical evacuation operations.
Volunteers To March
In addition, the best infantry unit isn’t the only one from SAF to march in the National Day Parade this year.
A contingent of people from the Home Team and Singapore Armed Forces volunteer corps will march in the parade as well.
The reason? The people in charge want to show and commend the commitment of “ordinary Singaporeans” in contributing to the “peace and stability” of our nation.
To get you into the mood of NDP, here’s our representative song this year and as we’ve said, it’s like the Avengers of all Singapore songs.
These five GRCs could see the tightest battle in GE2025; here’s why:
