Woman Claims ‘NEA’ Officers Abused Their Authority in a Clinic; NEA has Responded

What if one day, a bunch of men barged into a clinic and started shouting as though they’re from the Special Ops Command.

Freeze. Get down. What are you here for? I’m from the government!

Whelp, as people in Singapore have proven time and again, they DGAF about authority and would love nothing more than to get them into trouble.

Woman Claims ‘NEA’ Officers Abused Their Authority in a Clinic; NEA has Responded

On 11 Jun, a lady by the username of Channey Lim took to Facebook to complain about a bunch of officers.

According to her, she was at a clinic when NEA enforcement officers (EO) barged in and started questioning people ‘in a loud voice’.

The staff at the clinic pointed out that the patients’ information is private and confidential.

The EO then allegedly turned to the staff and said that he is “from NEA” and “has the right” to know the patients’ information.

When asked to wait outside, the men allegedly started throwing their weight around, according to the lady.

She also claims that the EO said the staff at the clinic were ‘working blindly’, attempted to stop the staff from asking their boss and shot down a patient who tried to mediate between the staff and EO.

She ended off her post by saying that while the clinic staff’s attitudes were “not the best”, she personally felt that “authority is not to be abused”.

Netizens aren’t happy with the thought of NEA officers abusing their authority:

NEA Has Responded

Of course, with such a serious allegation, the National Environment Agency (NEA) has to respond.

And here’s their answer to the lady’s claim: It’s not our people.

NEA officers, they clarify, only enforce safe distancing measures at premises under their care, which are hawker centres and markets.

They added that NEA EOs and ambassadors can be identified by:

  • the respective agencies’ corporate attire
  • staff pass and/or lanyard
  • Safe distancing passes
  • Red armbands for EOs

Lady Made Edit To Her Post, Clarifies That The Group Is From MOH

Ms Channey Lim realises that she had identified the wrong agency and clarified that it was officers from the Ministry of Health (MOH):
