With all the festivities and Christmas cheer that comes with December, it’s no surprise that local attractions like Jewel Changi Airport are sprucing up their attractions.
Right now, Jewel Changi has been turned into a Frozen 2 Wonderland and visitors are flocking to its attractions for a fun-filled day.
Unfortunately, at least one person who visited Jewel Changi with their child did not leave with a smile on their faces.
Netizen Says Jewel Changi Let Celebrity Into Attraction With Improper Footwear But Not Her
One glance at the title will have you thinking that the incident happened due to preferential treatment.
Just hold that thought and read on for the full picture.
A Facebook user by the name of Kaitlin Ng took to social media to share her experience.
She thought it would be a good idea to bring her son to the canopy walk for the Christmas-themed Snow Walk feature.
In her Facebook post, she explained that her son was wearing a pair of open-toe sandals instead of the required covered shoes.
Covered shoes are compulsory and this is to ensure safety.
You can see her son’s open-toed shoe in the picture below:
As her son was wearing improper footwear, both mother and child were not allowed to enter the snow walk segment.
Luckily, the boy did not kick up a fuss and even told his mother, “It’s ok, I’m still happy.”
Aww, how cute is he!
Celebrity DJ’s Son Let Into Canopy Walk With Improper Shoes
All’s well that ends well right? Well, not really.
In the coming days, Ng came to know of a celebrity DJ and her son who were allegedly wearing sandals aka improper shoes, but were still allowed into the snow walk segment.
That doesn’t sound very fair. She then questioned if the rules were not strictly followed or if they were only meant for “common folks”.

Jewel’s Response
Firstly, Jewel Changi Airport responded saying that it is their “topmost priority” that visitors can have fun at the attractions in “optimal conditions”.
That is their reason why proper footwear is compulsory to participate at the Snow Walk.
Secondly, they admitted that they had indeed allowed the celebrity DJ’s son to enter with improper footwear but that it was an “oversight”. They have since issued a reminder to the staff who work at the Snow Walk.
They have since invited the family to come back to visit the Snow Walk.
Hopefully, that has cleared up the situation. It’s heartening to know at least that it was all just a mistake and not preferential treatment.
