Ever felt hungry in the middle of the night and the nearest 7/11 store is too far away? Well, fret no more as the latest revolution of food for the masses is finally here in Singapore and is available 24/7.
By the people at VendCafe, Singapore officially launches their first Vending Machine Cafe at the void deck of Block 320C along Anchorvale Drive. The cafe eliminates all manpower-intensive problems by offering Chef-In-The-Box options by preparing wholesome food a la minute.
In a report by TodayOnline, food in each Vending Machine is prepared by 60 chefs in the central kitchen and distributed to the machines.
Restaurant service crew employee Pauline Poh, 60, said she will now be able to get dinner at the base of her block when she gets home past 11pm and the coffee shop nearby is closed.
The food can be prepared within 3 minutes, and prices range from S$3.50 – S$5 – pretty much like the prices from coffee shops! Patrons can also choose payment methods like cash, Nets FlashPay, or your credit card!
These foods are kept fresh through blast-chilling after cooking, using technology without having to compromise on the quality and nutrition of the food served at the Vending Machine Cafe.
The Vending Machines boast more than 30 different kinds of food available ranging from Chinese, Malay, Indian, Western cuisines down to snacks, sandwiches and drinks.
The selections also include local delights like Chicken Rice, Hor Fun, Mutton Rendang – bringing you the best of Singapore in these portable boxes.
After sampling dishes like the claypot chicken rice and chicken penne with cream sauce, Ms Lilian Chua felt that they tasted better than similar convenience food found at 7-11 stores.
Two dishes in VendCafe — Yangzhou Brown Rice and Braised Chicken in Duo Olive Pronto Sauce — have been awarded the Health Promotion Board’s Healthier Choice symbol.
Imagine receiving your favourite Punggol Nasi Lemak or Tian Tian Chicken Rice at the Vending Machine Cafe at your void deck without having to travel all the way to the stores for them.
I’m not sure about you, but this does sound like the next big thing for the food scene in Singapore.
