I looked at the date and got the shock of my life. What do you mean it’s already the end of December?
Last I checked it was January and I was just beginning to list down my new year resolutions. But no, it is indeed the end of December and yes, none of my new year resolutions were accomplished.
But if it’s any consolation, Singapore is going to usher in 2020 with the biggest countdown event she has ever had in its 15th edition. I’m not exaggerating.
Plus, a new year means a new slate and a spanking new set of resolutions… right?
New Year Countdown Event at Marina Bay Has Food Carnivals, 500 Drones & Uncle Ringo
They weren’t kidding when they said it was going to be big. In its 15th edition and Singapore’s biggest countdown event, you can expect a musical from Japan involving fireworks and 500 drones at The Float @ Marina Bay.
It’ll be a 90-minute long show called The Star Island Singapore Countdown Edition fireworks musical involving pyrotechnics, unicyclists and ballet dancers.
It isn’t free though, the tickets to enter the musical area are priced from $88 and doors are set to open as early as 5pm.
Attendees will also get to enjoy the family-friendly entertainment zone and a food village.
Circus Performance By Uncle Ringo
Fireworks? Ballet dancers? It can’t get any better-er can it? Apparently, yes it can.
Another highlight you can look forward to is a circus performance presented by Uncle Ringo.
The Great Circus of Europe will perform “jaw-dropping circus acts and stunts.”
Again, this performance is not free and you can expect to pay $70-$150 for a ticket. The first show will begin as early as 4pm and will be held at Bayfront event space.
But if you’re not one for circus performances, you can always check out the myriad of other activities such as carnival games, rides and the 50 food and retail stores at the Escapade Festival Village.
The best part? The admission for this is free.
Bouncy Castles, Magic Shows and Arts & Craft Booths at The Lawn @ Marina Bay
If you’re thinking of heading down with younger kids, you might want to check out The Lawn @ Marina Bay which will feature a range of kid-friendly activities.
These include bouncy castles, arts & crafts booths and even magic shows which are open to the public on 31 December from 5pm onwards.
And at the end of the day, you might want to chope a good spot to watch the fireworks when the clock strikes 12.
Here is a list of the best places to catch the fireworks, as told by The Straits Times:
- Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza
- Waterfront Promenade
- The Lawn @ Marina Bay
- The Promontory @ Marina Bay
- One Fullerton
- Jubilee Bridge
- Esplanade Theatres By The Bay
- The Float@Marina Bay
And with that, I wish you all the best and Happy (advanced) New Year! Also, do remember that traffic will be tight post-event, so do plan your route home.
