If you’ve ever embarked on a job hunt during this digital age, you probably would have come across some weird job listings.
When our Goody Feed writers applied for a job here, for instance, we noticed that the job listing said “cats are welcome to apply”.
We later found several cats lazing around the office, none of them typing.
Boss: Cats can type, okay? I’ve seen it.
Okay boss, if you say so.
But as weird as my boss’ job listing was, it can’t compare to this bizarre request from someone in Japan.
Mysterious Job Listing in Japan Offers to Pay Someone S$182 to Fly From Okinawa to Tokyo to Deliver Onigiri
A strange job listing in Japan offering payment for the cross-prefecture delivery of onigiri is making netizens furrow their brows.
It all began when Japanese Twitter userĀ @fx1jp1 posted an image of a part time job listingĀ on the Japanese website Jimoty:

According toĀ SoraNews24,Ā the person who posted this job listing said they’re looking for someone to fly to Tokyo Airport from Okinawa Airport twice a day to deliver a package.
You’d assume it’d be some business documents right?
Nope.Ā
The job entails purchasing a pork and egg onigiri from a specific store and delivering it.
Here’s what the job listing says:
“Hello! This is a small job where you will deliver a package between Haneda Airport and Okinawa Airport. You will buy a ‘pork-egg onigiri’ to the right outside the arrivals gate at Okinawa Airport, then deliver it to Haneda Airport.
“Of course we will take care of the round trip plane ticket. You will deliver the onigiri round trip twice per day. The job will take about 12 hours.
“Please contact concerning dates and times.”
For this simultaneously laborious and low-effort errand, the employer is willing to pay a daily salary of 15,000 yen, or roughly S$183.
So, if you’re in Japan and have 12 hours a day to spare, this might be the job for you.
A Codeword, Drugs, or Someone With Too Much Money?
Naturally, netizens have been busy speculating why someone would make such an odd request and be willing to pay so handsomely for it.
Some think it’s a codeword for something even more mysterious, some think drugs are involved, while others believe the person who posted this simply has too much money and time on their hands.
However, as Occam’s Razor dictates, the simplest explanation is usually the best oneāmeaning this person just really likes pork and egg onigiri.
SoraNews24Ā reported that the pork-egg onigiri comes from a well-known shop at Naha Airport in Okinawa called Pork Tamago Onigiri.
Their pork-egg onigiri is made with rice, wrapped in seaweed, and sandwiched in between is a thick helping of egg and Spam.

So, this person could simply be a wealthy individual who got a taste of this special onigiri and is now dying for more.
We don’t blame them; the onigiri does look delicious.
Sadly, the ad has since been removed, so we’ll likely never know the person’s true intentions.
Amusingly, Pork Tamago Onigiri responded to the buzz around the job listing, saying they’ve never received an order for a delivery to Tokyo.
The eatery was grateful for that poster’s support, but encouraged them to come to the store as their onigiriĀ is best enjoyed fresh.
