Iโll admit it. When my boss told me to try this Chilli Crab โOโ that Old Chang Kee is selling for National Day, I was a little bit worried.
I mean, after all the new food that brands tried to come up with recently (and failed badly), youโd be worried too.
Like McDonaldโs Ha Ha Cheong Gai Chicken Burger

Yup, you get why Iโm worried.
But then again, this is Old Chang Kee weโre talking about.
You know, the brand that believes in staff welfare and authenticity before anything else (or so Iโm told).
So I bravely looked my boss in the eye and saidโฆ
And I lost.
So I was stuck with this.

How does it look?
To be honest, the chilli crab โOโ itself doesnโt look really bad.
In fact, itโs the opposite. It looks damn good.
And thatโs an understatement.
Although you have to admit that the fiery red the puff comes in does look very intimidating. Almost like natureโs way of telling you, DANGER, BACK OFF. NOW.
But seeing how online reviews are raving about these delicious bits of crabs, I knew I have to give it a go.

Plus, my bossโs watching me from his office, ready to fire me at any moment.
So I took a bite.
Chilli Crab โOโ, A History in the Making
Mind. Blown.
I rarely rave about food. In fact, if you were to check past food reviews, Iโm far more likely to hate on them then rave about it.

But this, this is just too good not to talk about.
Imagine piping hot crunchy skin, with spicy, sweet and salty chilli crab within. And the taste of crab roe and meat perfectly balances out the taste.
Now bite into it, and the chilli crab practically flows into your mouth.
Thatโs what heaven felt like to me. That first bite.
And donโt get me wrong, this ainโt no fake crabmeat. The smell and taste of the filling just scream of the real thing.
Although I wish their crab meat could come in bigger pieces.

In fact, it wouldnโt be far-fetched to say that this combination of puff and chilli crab is only second to the mantou and chilli crab combination.
Now that, no one can beat. But this came damn close.
So, would I recommend this to you?
Hell, yeah! Go get it now. In fact, get as many as possible because once more people know about the taste of their Chilli Crab puff? Itโs going to get sold out.

Possibly even before the day itโs supposed to stop selling.
So like my colleague would tell you, better fast hand fast leg, yeah?
On a separate note, we didnโt get to try Old Chang Keeโs nasi lemak thatโs supposed to be as hot, if not hotter, than the Chilli Crab โOโ.
