Ah, the p-plate.
Besides traffic lights and cyclists, the p-plate is the one thing that will make other motorists sigh, roll their eyes, and speed up to overtake the vehicle in question.
But all of us – even Lewis Hamilton – were p-plate holders at some time in our lives.
We’ve all made mistakes when we first drove on the roads. I, for instance, once backed into a fire hydrant when parking a car in my first year as a driver.
LTA: Wait, so that was you?
Most of us don’t have our mistakes filmed, so we forget about them and start believing we never made them at all.
But one woman was not so fortunate.
P-Plate Motorcyclist Fell Off Bike After Slamming on Her Brakes at Admiralty
A video of a motorcyclist falling off her bike after she abruptly came to a stop has been making the rounds on social media.
Footage of the incident was shared on the Facebook page SG Road Vigilante yesterday.
The video starts out with three motorcyclists making a right turn along Admiralty Road West.
The first biker slows down as he makes the turn, prompting the second motorcyclist behind him to do the same.
The biker at the back seems to have been riding a little too close to the second biker, as she has to slam on her brakes to prevent from hitting the motorcycle in front of her.
Since she managed to avoid smashing into the bike in front of her, this normally wouldn’t be an issue, considering that there were no oncoming cars from the other side of the road.
But it appears that she stopped her bike at a weird angle, because when she tried to stand on her left foot, she ended up losing her balance.
She tried to stay up but the weight of the bike caused her to fall to the ground.
Fellow Bikers Help Fallen Comrade
Three motorcyclists in front and behind the woman got off their bikes to help the woman return the fallen bike to an upright position.
One of them even helped to move it to a nearby carpark, away from the main road.
You can watch the entire video here.
Netizens’ Reaction
Some netizens poked fun at the female biker, choosing to mention her frame, gender, and choice of dressing in the process.
But as a few commenters pointed out, we’ve all made mistakes on the road, especially at the start.
As another commenter said: give chance lah.
