Ivan Lim may have fallen from grace, but it seems that his PAP compatriot Desmond Tan is only going from strength to strength.
Since his introduction, Mr Tan has been receiving a multitude of glowing reviews on Facebook…
With many applauding him for his display of great character and leadership skills on and off the field.
Unlike Ivan Lim, PAP Desmond Tan Has Got Positive Feedback as a Commander in SAF
On Wednesday (24 June), Desmond Tan was unveiled as a rising PAP candidate to the public, via both mainstream and social media.
He was featured in an interview segment, which has since been uploaded to the official Facebook page for People’s Action Party (PAP).

Throughout the 5:21 clip, Mr Tan appeared calm and composed, with a hint of tongue-in-cheek humour that served to lighten the mood.
His introduction has certainly come with a large impact as well, gauging from comments on the post.
Many Netizens spoke of Mr Tan in glowing terms, describing him as a kind, empathetic leader who goes out of the way for his men. The PAP candidate spent nearly three decades with the SAF, attaining the coveted rank of Brigadier General (BG) in the process.
Apparently, the PAP candidate also has an amazing memory that allowed him to address a 500-strong company individually.

Here, you can take a look through some of the more heartfelt testimonial comments posted on (or in reply to) the political party’s page.
And it seems that Mr Tan is just as well-respected on the field as well.
The football field. Though I wouldn’t doubt his prowess in a jungle.
Well, what can I say?
Singapore needs authority figures who lead by example…
And Mr Tan seems to fit that description to a T.
Incidentally, Mr Tan left the SAF in 2016, and has spent around 3 years at People’s Association (PA).
He was recently spotted at the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC with Mr Teo Chee Hean, while performing a walkabout.
Ivan Lim
Mr Tan’s testimonial success comes off the back of a rather ‘dire’ situation, as fellow PAP candidate Ivan Lim found himself withdrawing from the political party just three days after being announced as a candidate.
The 42-year-old came under fire after he was accused of elitism in NS and just about everywhere else in his life.
He has since dismissed the ‘elitism’ claims as baseless, and claimed that he was not involved in any corruption projects. The repudiation, however, did not quell rumours, and he eventually resigned.
He addressed a withdrawal letter to the Prime Minister, explaining that the controversy has taken a toll on his family.
“I cannot put my family through this,” he wrote.
PM Lee has accepted the withdrawal, and expressed a wish for Singaporeans to give Mr Tan and his family the “peace and privacy to recover”.
And with that said, I just want to end off with one thing:
Two men. One similar phase. Two entirely different outcomes.
I guess the notion rings true:
“Your past will always catch up with you.”
