It’s hard to be a responsible adult and a responsible parent at the same time.

On one hand, you wish to be a law-abiding citizen who strives to avoid creating trouble for others.

And yet, on the other hand, you end up alienating your own kids because you’re too invested in the former.

Truly, adulthood’s a tough notion to contend with. And the following scenario is a prime exemplification of just why.

Parent Speeds Off After Dropping Off Kids; Car Boot Left Open with Their School Bags Still in the Boot

You may have seen this video floating on your newsfeed these past couple of days.

On 6 April 2021, Facebook page posted a 0:17 video clip on the social media platform, garnering widespread laughter because of the content.

In the clip, we see two students scrambling out of their car to retrieve their backpacks from the car boot. As cars are not allowed to stay stationary along moving roads for long, the students would have to do it fast. And efficiently.

However, just as one of them opens the boot and reaches for his bag, the vehicle starts moving off, with its bare behind open for all to see.

Nonplussed, the students could only stay still as the car scoots off, with their bags still inside the boot.

Slowly recovering from the traumatic incident, they gradually recover enough sense to walk back towards the pedestrian’s road.

They then shoot furtive glances at each other as the car vanishes from view.

“Shit, our school bags,” the caption in the video reads.

“Mum rushing to buy Toto.”

It would appear that in the face of a prospective TOTO windfall, the well-being of children is deemed as secondary.

And Netizens Are Taking The Piss

Though thankfully, not literally.

To date, the post has garnered over 2.9K reactions and 2K shares.

There are also over 400 comments, with Netizens largely unable to resist the funny side of the situation.

Some, for instance, wondered about the whole teacher-student conversation that would’ve occurred in the classroom.

Another jokingly indicated that the boys simply failed to make the cut.

So you go to social media and it appears that everyone is agreeing with your views. Watch this video to the end and you’d realise that there’s a disturbing reason behind this:

And apparently, there were other similar instances too.

However, some did appraise the situation in a serious manner, stating that the driver may have simply wanted to be considerate towards the other motorists on the road.

Others wondered why the students had to place their bags in the boot in the first place.

The general consensus, however, is that the driver should have remembered to check his/her rearview mirror.

Well, I guess we have the moral of the story done and dusted then.

Here’s hoping that the driver would stay for just a little longer next time. Or alternatively, the boys could master the unloading drill.

Would be useful in a few years’ time too, if you catch my drift.
