A bus driver was assaulted by a passenger during a dispute at Boon Lay bus interchange on 28 March 2025.

According to the eyewitnesses, the driver seemed to have been “holding on to the man” and telling him not to leave.
As a result, the man became very angry and punched the bus driver on the bridge of his nose.
The witnesses added that the driver repeatedly said “don’t go” during the confrontation, but noted that the two individuals might not have shared a common language.
They pointed out that during the time, many people were in a hurry to commute to work, and some were afraid to get close, so no one stepped forward to stop the altercation.
Additional Accounts
Another witness, who works at a stall in the interchange, observed that the driver was talking to the man but not taking physical action.
Instead, it was the man who threw punches and attempted to push the bus driver away. The altercation moved from bus stop B10 to B8, with a distance of about ten meters.
Video footage obtained from a reader shows a man in grey explaining the situation to interchange staff after the incident. The uniformed driver stood silently nearby.
The man claimed that when the bus arrived, he thought he could board, but the door closed.

He said the driver then waved for passengers to board, but when he attempted to do so, the driver asked, “Can’t you wait?” This apparently triggered the confrontation.
During the man’s recounting, the driver suddenly bent over and held his left knee in pain. Additionally, there was a black backpack on the ground, and spilled coffee nearby.
The police confirmed receiving the report, stating that a 31-year-old bus driver was conscious when taken to the hospital, and a 30-year-old man is under investigation for voluntarily causing hurt.
The Civil Defence Force stated that one person was transported to Ng Teng Fong Hospital. The case is still under investigation.
In recent incidents in Singapore, bus drivers have been victims of physical assaults by passengers.
