No matter where you live, if you were to go outside and shout, “Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?”, you’ll always get the same answer.

It’s the most famous call-and-response line in the history of music, after all.

The answer, in case you’ve not watched television since 1999, is “SpongeBob SquarePants”.

Children and adults alike have followed the adventures of the lovable yellow sponge in Bikini Bottom for over two decades.

But all this time, no one has ever asked: “Who lives under the rock under the sea?”.

Sure, it may not be as catchy as the original, but poor little Patrick Star, who has been in the shadow of his best friend for years, will finally get the spotlight.

Step aside, SpongeBob, there’s a new star in town. Patrick Star, that is.

Patrick Star, probably the most well-known starfish in history, will now have his own spin-off show called “The Patrick Star Show”.

The new series revolves around a young Patrick who’s hosting a variety show from his home, with the help of his family.

The 13-episode series is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in July 2021.

The network described the spin-off show as “a family sitcom starring Patrick and the rest of his family as they are constantly disrupted by Patrick’s wild whims and surreal imagination.”

Meanwhile, his little sister, Squidina, is constantly working behind the scene to ensure that Patrick’s show is always running smoothly.

Patrick’s parents and his grandpa, while encouraging, often show their support in absurd ways.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the show was created by the same creative team behind the original series.

On Monday (31 May), the network dropped a teaser trailer on the official SpongeBob SquarePants YouTube channel, delighting fans all over the globe.

The new series will include new voice-over artists such as Tom Wilson, Cree Summer, Jill Talley, and Dana Snyder.

Bill Fagerbakke, a legendary voice actor, will reprise his voice role of Patrick. Tom Kenny will also continue to voice SpongeBob SquarePants.

Believe it or not, this is actually the second spinoff for SpongeBob, with the first being “Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years”, which premiered earlier this year on streaming service Paramount Plus.

The prequel series follows 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals as they spend their summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck.

Looks like I know what I’ll be watching next month!
