Jollibee probably has one of the lowest numbers of outlets in Singapore when it comes to the fast food fried chicken game.
And yet, you can’t deny that it’s an underdog, a powerhouse that Singaporeans adore.
Jollibee Woodlands
Everybody knows that Woodlands is going to have an outlet that’ll be opening on 26 June 2019.
Or at least, everybody in the office knows because our illustrious writer, GY, who lives up north, wouldn’t shut up about it.
Oh, and if you’ve not tried this fast-food chain from the Philippines before, and you’re wondering how good they could be?
They’re good enough for this.
And this.
Yes, people queued up overnight for their chance to eat first at this joint up in the north.
Now, in true Singaporean forms, these people could’ve been in line for freebies.
But I’ll be honest here. If the food’s not good? You won’t be a fan of Jollibee and queue up for it anyway.
Only Outlet in the North
If you’re a fan of the Philippines-based fast-food chain, you’d know that so far, there isn’t any outlet in the north.
At this moment, they’ve got six outlets in Singapore, namely in:
- Lucky Plaza Basement 1
- Lucky Plaza Level 6
- Square 2 (next to Novena MRT Station)
- Changi City Point
- Paya Lebar Square
- Jurong East MRT Station
With the new outlet in Woodlands MRT Station, they’ve effectively got an outlet in all corners of Singapore.
But They’re Not Stopping Anytime Soon
First launched in Singapore to great fanfare in 2013, the chain has grown exponentially since then.
Back then when it was first launched, its primary customers were Filipinos. In 2017, almost half of all the customers are now Singaporeans.
According to an interview in 2017, the chain has plans to open at least 15 more outlets by 2022. With an outlet open in 2018 (Jurong East) and this new outlet in Woodlands, we could be seeing 13 more outlets in the next three years.
One of them has been planned to be opened in Waterway Point in Punggol.
Jollibee will be taking over BurgerUP, a local fast food joint with DIY options. Fans of the joint may notice that it has closed since last year.
However, it was not announced when it’ll be up.
But hey, judging by how some of us love Jollibee (read: GY), chances are, you’d hear it from us the moment any news gets out.
