Usually, people managing to buy a smartphone at the advertised price isn’t a huge thing.
But for Huawei, it is.
Mainly because recently, they’ve come under fire for launching a “fake” promotion.

People were arrested.

People fainted.
And apologies were made.
So finally, after a series of unfortunate events, the fact that someone actually managed to get a good deal is pretty news-worthy.
Huawei $48 Y6 Pro
Back on 31 July 2019, Huawei told Singaporeans that they’ll “make things right”.
And how do they do that? By giving interested Singaporeans a $100 voucher to be used on selected Huawei models.
Models include:
- Y6 Pro
- Nova 3i
- P30 Pro
- P30
- Mate 20 X
- P30 Lite
- Mate 20 Pro
- Mate 20
Quite a wide range.

But proving that they know Singaporeans, they emphasised that it’s not just a “feel-good” gift.
By utilising the voucher on the Y6 pro, Singaporeans will be able to get the phone at $48, even cheaper than the National Day promo phone.
And Someone Got The Phone
On 2 Aug, a person with the username of Hurricane Ang posted on the HardwareZone forum.
Basically, he managed to get the Huawei Y6 Pro at $48 and got his faith in Huawei restored.
In the thread, he highlighted how he managed to do it.

Courts had taken down his personal particulars when he was there to queue up for the promo.
Then, they sent him an SMS, which he showed to the staff, to redeem the voucher.
How To Register?
For those who are wondering if they can get in on the promo, sorry, you can’t.
And the organising partners are prepared to prevent any fraudulent cases.
So only those who had registered are eligible.

By the way, there’s limited quantity for the $48 phone too.
So if you’ve registered and have received the SMS, better make your way down fast.
Reason For Low Quantity Of $54 Phones
Previously, Huawei explained why the entire incident happened.
Simply put, they had “clearly underestimated” the demand for their phones.
They had initially prepared 2,000 units of the Y6 (the promotional smartphone) for the National Day promotion.
As for how they came to that number? It was based on past sales at their outlets.

Retailers like Courts and Challenger would have a hundred sets while their outlets in heartland areas would have 20 to 30 sets.
These five GRCs could see the tightest battle in GE2025; here’s why:
