PHV Driver Allegedly Tried to Run Over Woman After She Used Another Door to Enter Car

A PHV driver allegedly tried to run a woman over after she got on the vehicle from the “wrong” car door.

Here’s what happened.

Woman Uses “Wrong” Door to Enter Vehicle; PHV Driver Allegedly Gets Agitated

On Saturday (7 December), a TikTok video posted by a user known as “nappyraptor” made its rounds among Singaporeans. In the video, the user recounts her experience with a PHV driver from the TADA ride hailing app.

And let’s just say, the story takes you on quite the rollercoaster ride.

The TikTok starts off with the user explaining how she got onto the PHV driver’s car — a key detail which would later spark the conflict between the PHV driver and the user.

It was a Thursday morning, and the user was trying to get to work. She managed to book a PHV on TADA.

According to the TikTok, the user had exited the lift from her condominium block and saw her PHV driver, who drove a black Honda Vezel, a few parking lots down from the lift.

As such, she tried gesturing to the PHV driver to drive forward to the lift. However, as it appeared that the driver did not see her gestures, she decided to walk towards the car instead.

And this is where things start to get messy.

According to the user, the car was parked at least a metre away from the parking lot pillar perpendicular to it. To the user, this meant that there was sufficient space for her to enter the vehicle from the right side of the car, which was the side nearer to the parking lot and pillar.

So, that’s what she did.

However, the PHV driver wasn’t too happy about this.

Once the user got onto the vehicle, the PHV driver allegedly got agitated and questioned why she decided to enter the vehicle from the right side of the vehicle, when that side of the car was so close to the pillar.

“Obviously the pillar is there. You cannot see meh? It’s so narrow. It’s so bloody narrow,” the PHV driver allegedly told the user.

In other words, he wasn’t all too happy about the user entering the vehicle from the “wrong” side of the car lah.

Woman Offers to Exit the Vehicle; PHV Driver Starts Honking at Her

The woman attempted to de-escalate the situation by cracking a joke. She told the PHV driver that in any event, the car door would not have hit the pillar because she was slim.

Unfortunately, the joke didn’t land.

The PHV driver allegedly replied: “You? Skinny? You so big, how do you squeeze there? You’re like a carpenter.”

The user then shared that she urged the PHV driver to relax. In response, the driver turns around to shout at her.

At this juncture, the user then decides to tell the driver to cancel the TADA trip, before proceeding to exit the car. The car was still within the woman’s condominium complex.

Yet, after she exited the vehicle, the PHV driver started honking at the woman “like there’s no tomorrow”.

PHV Driver Allegedly Tries to Run The Woman Over

The woman then decides to call her mother for help, since her mother was at home. But even then, the woman’s woes were far from over.

According to the user, the PHV driver suddenly acclerated and stopped the car right before hitting her. Later, he then allegedly continued moving the car forward until the car hit her knees.

She shared that she did not move out of the way as she was experiencing “fight or flight” in that moment.

At this point, the user’s mother had arrived downstairs. As the woman recounted to her mother what happened, the PHV driver rebutted what was being said and claimed that the woman was lying.

He also claimed that he was still going to receive $2 and earn the woman’s money even if she cancels the trip now. In response, the woman told the PHV driver to simply apologise and leave.

But surprise, surprise — the PHV driver does not apologise. Instead, according to the TikTok, he tries to open his car door to slam it towards the woman and her mother.

The woman then decides to call the police. It was at this point where the PHV driver then turned to apologise to the woman’s mother, before later saying “sorry lor” to the woman as well.

Fortunately, the woman’s mother eventually convinced the PHV driver to leave.

PHV Driver Returns and Insists on Driving The Woman to Her Destination; Woman Lodges Police Report

It probably was a really long morning for the TikTok user, because that still wasn’t the end of her encounter with the PHV driver. According to the user, the PHV driver returned a few minutes later and parked his car outside of the condominium’s car gate.

From outside the condominium, he then insists on driving the woman to her destination.

Naturally, the woman and her mother reject his offer. After all, tension was still high.

The woman then decides to call the police again. According to the woman, the PHV driver finally walked away after seeing her do so.

The police arrived later and took the woman’s statement. Unfortunately, there was no CCTV footage of the incident.

The woman also went to the hospital to check for any injuries from the incident. Fortunately, there were none.

TADA Comes Under Fire After Woman’s TikTok Goes Viral

In the TikTok, the woman also shared that while she had reported the incident to TADA, TADA “ghosted” her.

In a follow-up TikTok uploaded on Sunday (8 December), the woman shared that TADA had finally responded to her after her original TikTok went viral.

In the TikTok, the woman showed a screenshot of her conversation with TADA. TADA shared that they have since launched an investigation into the incident and are “closely monitoring the situation”.

The ride hailing platform also shared that while attempts to contact the PHV driver have been unsuccessful, the PHV driver’s account has since been placed on hold.

Since the two TikToks went viral, netizens have also been flooding TADA’s TikTok account with comments urging them to take accountability.
