For some reason, it seems like coronavirus patients aim to cover every inch of Singapore before they get tested.

Instead of visiting that coffee shop below your house that’s emptier than Changi Airport, they go to popular malls, eateries, and supermarkets.

It’s not their fault, of course. They likely had no idea they had it.

But since you also chose to visit that popular mall instead of that empty coffee shop, now you have to be wary of this pesky virus too.

Takashimaya, Paragon & Far East Plaza Added As Places Visited By Infectious Covid-19 Cases

Takashimaya, Paragon, and Far East Plaza were just some of the locations added on Saturday (29 Aug) to the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) list of places visited by infectious Covid-19 patients.

Other places on the list include:

  • Papilla Haircare
  • Best Denki in Ngee Ann City
  • Muji
  • Toys ‘R’ Us
  • iStudio in Paragon
  • Robinsons in The Heeren
  • ABC Restaurant in Far East Plaza
  • Far East Shopping Centre
  • Swensen’s in Bugis Junction
  • Beauty in The Pot in Westgate
  • Joo Chiat Complex

You can view the full list here for the exact timeframe and date of visits.

No Need to Panic

Today, you were supposed to meet a friend for dessert in Swensen’s at Bugis Junction, go for scalp treatment at Papilla Haircare, and buy a toy for your niece from Toys ‘R’ Us.

But after reading this article, you’ve cancelled all your plans and decided to stay at home for the next 3 weeks.

What many people don’t get, however, is that this list isn’t meant to warn the public against visiting these places.

Every time a place is added to the list, the National Environmental Agency (NEA) will work with management to clean and disinfect the area.

Rather, this list is meant to inform those who visited these places to monitor their health in the next couple of weeks.

It only includes places where Covid-19 patients have spent more than 30 minutes while they were infectious.

Public transport, residences, workplaces, and healthcare facilities aren’t included, of course. If they were, the daily list would be seven volumes long and take several months to read.

51 Cases Reported on Saturday

After months of alarmingly high numbers, we’re finally seeing the number of daily infections we used to early on in the outbreak.

51 new coronavirus infections were reported yesterday (28 Aug), bringing our total to 56,717.

Only 1 of these cases was in the community, and 3 are imported.

In fact, the number of community cases has remained stable at an average of two infections daily in the last two weeks.

And there’s been an average of one unlinked case a day over the same period.

Let’s not celebrate too early, though. As we’ve seen time and time again, countries that have claimed victory too quickly have found themselves battling new outbreaks soon after.

Meanwhile, MOH has extended free Covid-19 testing to community workers like taxi drivers and delivery food riders.
