PMD Rider Confronts Couple For Allegedly Staring At Him When He Rode PMD On Footpath

In case you haven’t gotten the memo yet, PMDs are now banned on footpaths in Singapore.

Here’s a short video explaining the PMD ban:

And PMD riders are left shell-shocked at the government’s fast-and-furious ban.

But, of course, just because a ban was put into place doesn’t mean there are no more PMDs on footpaths.

Nor does it mean that PMD riders are entirely comfortable breaking the law, as this one man shows.

Confronts Couple For ‘Staring’

On 14 Nov 2019, a PMD rider got into a confrontation with a couple at a bus stop, allegedly in Bishan.

The reason for the confrontation?

They stared at him “like he’s doing something wrong”.

The video of the confrontation made it online and went viral.

Why You Stare At Me

At the start of the video, the rider walked towards the couple and started asking (aggressively) for their reason in staring at him.

The couple denied ever staring at him but he seemed to think they’re lying.

Even when the man attempted to defuse the situation and said, “I didn’t say anything, brother,” he wouldn’t be talked down.

This Is Between Me & LTA

The rider went on to acknowledge that he was not supposed to be riding on the footpaths.

But, he argued, that’s between me and LTA.

And you, he said, are not the LTA.

The incident eventually ended when the couple walked off to take the bus.

The Other Side Of The Confrontation

About a day later, Roads.sg posted a video of the incident online.

This time, it showed the rider who confronted them.

The video seems to have been taken by the lady involved in the incident.

The rider was seen dressed all in black with a black cap, shades and a mask on his face.

At the end of the incident, the rider could be seen walking back to his device, not before complaining loudly to an old man passing by.

What Could’ve Sparked This Off?

It could be the general unhappiness among PMD riders at the sudden ban.

Or the rider could’ve been feeling paranoid at breaking the law in broad daylight.

It could be the couple’s unhappiness as seeing a PMD on the path.

Hell, it could’ve been his attire that drew stares.

But one thing for sure, he’d probably strengthened the conviction of Singaporeans not to have PMDs on the footpaths anymore.
