A long, long time ago, in the Southern, Western, Northern, and Eastern parts of Singapore, a danger unlike any other lurked.
When residents stepped onto the streets, a speeding creature would come out from nowhere and smash into them while playing loud, annoying music.
Somehow, the music always seemed worse than the impact of the crash.
At the time, this was our biggest fear when stepping out of the house. But then the coronavirus arrived.
The gahmen also introduced laws banning these speedy creatures from using our streets and roads, which meant they could only scare residents on park connectors.

One of them was recently spotted on the road, however, and his speed may be a new record among his species.
PMD Rider Travelling Over 70kmh Stared at Motorcyclist Before Zooming Past Him on Bukit Timah Flyover
A video of a personal mobility device (PMD) rider racing down a flyover is making the rounds on social media.
Footage of the incident was shared on SG Road Vigilante’s YouTube channel on Thursday (22 Apr).
At the beginning of the video, a man on a PMD can be seen travelling at a high speed on the road shoulder of a flyover.
According to SG Road Vigilante, the PMD rider was speeding along the Bukit Timah Seven Mile flyover.
The footage appears to have been taken by the pillion passenger of a biker whom the PMD rider had whizzed past.
The man, who is carrying a GrabFood backpack, is riding with a mask but no helmet, presumably hoping the mask can save him from both the coronavirus and an accident.
According to AsiaOne, the motorcyclist riding beside him said he had been travelling at 70kmh, which means the PMD rider must have been moving at an even higher speed.
Whatever his speed was, it was certainly more than the legal speed limit of 25kmh for PMDs.
Despite all this, the man stares at the motorcyclist before zooming past him, and even glances back once more before speeding off into the moonlight.

Fines, Fines, and More Fines
Based on the video, the rider has broken quite a few laws.
It’s almost as if the man read through the PMD guidelines and decided to flout every single one of them.
For one, he was travelling over the legal speed limit of 25kmh, which likely means he illegally modified his device. Those convicted of performing illegal modifications on their mobility devices can be fined up to S$20,000 and/or jailed for up to two years.
The man was also riding on the road, which is not permitted for PMDs.
For this, he could be jailed for up to three months, fined up to $2,000, or both.
Even if you were to confine your PMD to cycling paths, remember that your device has to be UL2272-certified and registered with the Land Transport Authority.
Otherwise you might just end up on YouTube or in a Goody Feed article.
