For Pokemon GO players who have been banned by Niantic unfairly, there’s hope for you.
Earlier this week, Niantic released a blog post that it will now revisit some of the accounts that have been banned by the game due to violations against the company’s term of service.
These include accounts that have been using third-party apps and mapping tools that show where each Pokemon are located and the now defunct PokeVision. These apps have led to the Denial Of Service Attacks.
Accounts whose sole purpose was to scrape data are not being unbanned. Accounts which used apps or websites to remotely capture Pokémon, battle or deploy on Gyms, or harvest resources from PokéStops are also not being unbanned.
Some of these accounts that were previously banned may not have used cheats, but got banned by Niantic as the third-party apps were collecting data that seemed malicious at first glance. Unbeknownst to many, these apps were collecting and receiving data from the Pokemon GO app, which threatened the security of the game.
However, Niantic will still be banning users who are using BOTS or GPS Spoofing techniques to stay ahead of others in the game.
Our main priority is to provide a fair, fun, and legitimate experience for all players, so, aggressive banning will continue to occur for players who engage in these kinds of activities.
Guess this also means that the Pokemon GO trend is not dying anytime soon?
