If you didn’t know, Pokemon Go has taken the word, and on a smaller scale, Singapore, by storm. Taken over the lives of many, you’ll now be able to see crowds of people walking down the streets, phones in hand, with a finger flicking on the screen.
While some players limit themselves and play the popular game merely when they have free time to kill or when they happened to be walking distances, some players take it in their stride to become the ultimate Pokemon master, bending all rules including illegal ones.
After the game arrived in Singapore, many Pokestops and Pokemon were found spread out in all parts of Singapore. What used to be landmarks that are found quiet and usually uncongested became crowded and filled with many Pokemon Go fanatics.

One such landmark is none other than Japanese Garden. Known to be a beautiful garden just beside Chinese Garden, the once-deserted location is now buzzing with people of all ages, ready to get their hands on some Pokemon.
It all seems fine, or even more than fine now that people are actually getting out there to walk but rules were broken as people were seen taking their Pokemon catching to a whole new level – trespassing.
Due to the operating hours of Japanese garden which is closed from 7pm to 5.30am, many hunting goers are found finding a way to enter the garden which is known to house many Pokemon and Pokestops.
Following the augmented reality map on their phones, they are led to the pond at Japanese Garden. In order to get in, many people have been seen climbing in over the steel gates, between Japanese and Chinese Garden.
Some people are led there from Chinese Garden which is open daily until 11pm. Excited squeals from hunters and thrill seekers can also be heard when they ‘get lucky’ and find a Pokemon.
Deeming this as trespassing, security guards have been sent on patrol, on their buggies to chase these Pokemon Masters away from the closed garden. Some players were also seen being escorted out of the garden and given a warning from repeating the break in.
