When you see a police car at an accident site, you’d assume that they arrived to assist those involved in the accident.

After all, whether it’s a traffic accident, a fight between two uncles at a coffee shop, or noisy neighbours, they’re the first ones we usually call.

This incident is a little different, however, as the police car at the scene was the one involved in the accident.

Police Car Skidded Off the Road Along South Buona Vista Road

A police car was found on the side of the road in a drain last Saturday (10 July) after it was involved in an accident.

The accident took place along South Buona Vista Road towards Pasir Panjang Road, where the car is believed to have skidded.

Speaking to Stompthe police said they were alerted to the scene at around 3.58pm.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Police investigations are ongoing.

Photo and videos of the accident’s aftermath soon found their way to the internet, showing the police car on its side in a drain.

Police officers had also cordoned off the area and were seen redirecting traffic.

Alleged Witness: Driver Was Not Speeding

On a Facebook post shared by SG Road Vigilante about the incident, one commenter said he was there at the time of the accident.

“I was there to help open the driver car door and grab policemen out of the car,” he wrote.

He said the roads were very slippery at the time due to a downpour but maintained that the accident wasn’t caused by speeding.

Similar Car Accident Last Week

A similar accident took place last week along the East Coast Parkway (ECP) towards Changi.

When the police arrived on the scene, they found the remains of a mangled car nestled among potted plants, as well as a male driver.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) the 42-year-old driver was conveyed to Raffles hospital while conscious.

Pictures of the accident’s aftermath were later shared on the Facebook page ROADS.sg, showing a white, disfigured car in a bush of potted plants.

It is believed that the car crashed into the potted plants that cover the expressway’s divider, causing extensive damage.

It’s unclear what caused the accident, though a commenter who claimed to have witnessed the accident said the car was speeding.

Investigations are ongoing.
