Ya, the police looking for a chiobu, but it’s not for any stupid reason.
The woman they are looking for was apparently spotted sitting on the 19th-floor ledge of a Housing Board (HDB) corridor in Chinatown.
In other words, it’s for a legit concern about the woman and whether she’s alright.
This is the photo we have, from Lianhe Wanbao:
Spotted twice chilling on HDB high floor ledges
She was spotted on 11 July 2019 at Block 333 Kreta Ayer Road by a 15-year-old girl, who saw the woman’s legs hanging outside and sitting on the ledge of the 19th floor.
The girl informed her father immediately, who then asked the woman not to be rash and do something stupid.
In reply, the woman said, “I am not going to jump, I’m just sitting here to chill.”
The girl’s father then asked her not to do that because it was dangerous and come down the ledge, which the woman did and went into the lift.
They thought it was over, but they heard the sound of the lift and saw the woman then did the same on the 18th floor.
As they went to report to the police, the woman was already gone when they came to check.
She was later seen at Block 4 Tanjong Pagar Plaza, on 15 July doing the same thing.
The police are looking for her to assist with the 2 cases of “public nuisance”.
For those with any information, you can call the hotline at 1800-255-0000 or submit information online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness.
But uhm, before I go on about other points.
Can we please not call this a public nuisance? It’s a case for concern, not a nuisance.
Using words like this will only drive people who need help away.
If anyone related to the police happens to know this, please adjust the wordings accordingly. I’m pretty sure the woman will only be more unwilling to cooperate with words like that.
Netizens concerned
On Facebook, netizens are showing concern for the woman.
And one more comment agrees with me that this shouldn’t be called a “public nuisance”.
There are a majority of comments on STOMP’s comment section saying the woman isn’t chio.
That’s not really the point the police is trying to make here, and I urge people to stop this toxic behaviour if they have nothing useful to contribute.
