Do you know that after the whole Raeesah Khan saga, people have been making police reports like they’re submitting their school assignments? It’s unknown whether those reports were really made, but in one instance, someone filmed himself making a police report for a tweet made by XiaXue way back in 2010:
Many of the reports are hearsay, and recently, it was mentioned that someone, or some people, had made a police report about DPM Heng Swee Keat.
Wait, what?
That one really play very big ah.
Rumours on forums stated that it was due to a comment made by DPM Heng back in March 2019 during a forum at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
Back then, a member of the audience noted that Tharman Shanmugaratnam has been a popular choice to be the next Prime Minister, and someone asked, “Is it Singapore who is not ready for a non-Chinese prime minister, or is it the PAP (the ruling People’s Action Party) who is not ready for a non-Chinese prime minister?”
According to TODAYonline, DPM Heng had then said that while the people in the forum were happy to have a Prime Minister who is not Chinese, this was “not the case for all of Singapore.”
Of course, back then, no one made a police report for that.
Fast forward to today, and the police have confirmed that reports have been lodged against DPM Heng.
Yes, reports
But making a report and committing an offence are two different things altogether. You can make a police report because your girlfriend is late for your date but the police can’t do anything for that.
Just watch this video on how a guy tried to make a police report for being friendzoned and you’d understand:
And in this case, there’s no offence.
The police said, “The police have consulted the Attorney-General’s Chambers, which advised that no offence is disclosed. Mr Heng’s remarks, in the context they were made, do not evidence any intent to wound anyone’s racial feelings or promote enmity between different races.”
But as you down your popcorn and wonder why people are anyhowly making police reports, this could be why.
Raeesah Khan Saga
We can’t read the minds of people who’ve made the police reports, but given the timing of the reports, it’s 88.8% certain that it’s due to the Raeesah Khan saga.
As police reports have been lodged on Raeesah Khan’s past comments, people might be doing the same thing by reporting about previous incidents that are somewhat similar to her case.
Moral of the story? This election is more happening than you expected.
And on a side note, candidates have been talking about NCMP (Non-Constituency Member of Parliament) in recent days. So, what’s an NCMP? Do you know that it’s just like an MP but the allowance is much lower? Watch this video to find out more:
