There are two types of people in Singapore: the first type remembers Michelle Chong as an actress in TCS, looking like a Japanese but speaking fluent English and Chinese.
The other type remembers Michelle Chong as Premium Ah Lian, the loud and likable sales manager who never seems to find a boyfriend.
If you’re the first type, I’ve no idea what you’re doing here. Did someone send you a WhatsApp link to this article? You can go back to creating Good Morning messages, or read about the fake news bill here.
If you’re the second type, then you’d be shook to know that Ah Lian has just been granted an interview with the Law Minister (who’s also the Home Affairs Minister).
Yes, we’re talking about K.Shanmugam, the minister who grilled a high-ranking Facebook executive last year.
If you know both of them, you’d know that it’s oil meeting water, but you’d also know it’s going to be the interview of the century.
And boy, it surpasses expectations.
New Michelle Chong Video Got Viral. Extremely Viral.
If you’ve not followed Michelle Chong’s Facebook, now’s the best-est timing.
This morning, the talented actress posted a video whereby her online character Premium Ah Lian interviewed Singapore Law Minister, and within hours, it has garnered well over 126K views and more than 2.2K Shares.
In this current Facebook era whereby getting such a number of Shares is almost impossible to hit (unless it’s about a cyclist hitting a lorry), this number is considered extremely viral.
Here’s the video if all you want is to watch it:
Just like us, Michelle Chong managed to turn a “chim” subject into something easily understood, repackaging the information with entertainment. The only difference? She did it much better than us.
And the information we’re talking about? The new fake news bill, which is set to be debated in parliament tomorrow (6 May 2019).
The best-est part of the video is how our Law Minister sportingly answers the questions with style and humour, a side of him that we don’t see often.
And he even used Singlish as well, showing us that when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Needless to say, the Internet loves it.
I don’t know about you, but this is a big win not just for Michelle Chong, but for the Ministry of Law as well.
This is how the Internet should be like, isn’t it?
