A week ago, a group of men, women, and thankfully not children, exchanged blows outside the Textile Centre in Jalan Sultan on Sunday (6 Dec).
It’s unknown what triggered the brawl, but it must have infuriated the combatants as some continued to fight even after police officers arrived on the scene.
In the end, 7 people were arrested, and two were taken to hospital.
The problem with fights these days is that it’s rather hard to defeat your opponent and maintain safe distancing at the same time.
Despite this, yet another skirmish took place recently, only this time, it was more like a WWE match.
Everything About the Princep Street Fight
A group of more than 10 men were seen fighting on Princep Street in the late hours of Thursday (10 Dec).
A video of the incident was shared on the Facebook page Singapore Road Accident the following day.
The video starts out with a large group of men and women (not practising social distancing or keeping to the limit of 5) walking towards a row of shophouses along Princep Street.
One man wasn’t wearing his shirt, and no one knows why.
It’s unknown where they came from or where they were heading.
Suddenly, without any visible or audible trigger, a fight erupts between two men, one in an oversized white T-shirt, the other wearing a black and orange T-shirt.
Their friends try to break it up, but that just leads to a bigger fight.
Like a well-choreographed dance troupe, the large group of combatants glide across the street while trying to land as many blows as they can.
From afar, it looks a little like a mosh pit at a punk rock show.
Then, what started as a good old Singaporean fight evolved into a WWE match.
Incinerator Bin Lid Used as a Weapon
Either because he wanted to reduce physical contact with his opponent for fear of getting Covid-19, or because he just wanted to smash him to bits, the man wearing a black and orange T-shirt picks up the lid of an incinerator bin.
He then waits for the right moment and smacks his opponent’s head with it, with a crash so loud it was probably audible in the faraway land of Jurong.
The white T-shirt man then picks up the lid and flings it towards his attackers.
The video ends there, just as the group of combatants move out of frame.
I’m just surprised I didn’t see a chokeslam.
Police Arrived On the Scene
According to an MS News reader, the men later tried to strike each other with metal objects. The group apparently seemed inebriated.
Fortunately, police officers soon arrived on the scene.
According to 8World, the incident took place at 10.45pm on Thursday night.
The group must have just finished their drinks, and just like two uncles at a coffee shop, a fight soon followed.
The police confirmed they have received a report. Investigations are ongoing.
