What happens if your company’s vehicle knocked down another person?

And the person, unfortunately, passed away?

Notify the family? Apologise sincerely and try to make reparations? Or just M.I.A?

Here’s what this private bus company did to a heartbroken family in Singapore.

Man Presumedly On The Way Home When Accident Happened

On 28 Jan 2019, Mr Lim Ruiliang, a maintenance worker at Tuas Naval Base was believed to be on his way home from work when he got into an accident.

The police said they were alerted to the accident at 5.32 pm on that day.

A green private bus was seen parked a distance away but the driver was nowhere to be found.

Incident Happened Two Months After Eldest Son Passed Away

For the Lim family, this accident happened at a period when the whole family was going through a mourning period.

Just two months back, the second brother of the family passed away in his sleep on 28 Nov 2018.

The entire family was still in shock at the departure of their beloved brother and son, when this happened.

Leaves Behind A One-Year-Old Kid & A Daughter in Primary School

Mr Lim Ruiliang leaves behind a wife, a daughter in primary school and a one-year-old son.

His family will prioritise support for his wife and their children over everything else.

While the (kids’) grandparents have always been taking care of the children whenever their parents are at work, Mr Lim’s sister said they’ll have even more love for the children now.

“My mum has been taking care of the children when their parents are at work, but the treatment now will be slightly different, because they have no father. The love for them will be even stronger.”

But that’s not the worst part.

The worst part of the entire situation is the private bus company ghosting the family.

All We Want Are Answers

The Lim family is appealing for any eyewitnesses to come forward with videos or descriptions of what happened.

Plus, they want the private bus company to explain the accident to them.

“The bus driver or the company should have paid their last respects. But there was nothing. Not even a phone call.”

The family had no idea if the accident was caused by Mr Lim Ruiliang or the bus driver.

According to a report, the family had reportedly received a request to donate money to the family.

But they rejected the kind offer.

“It is not about money. At the end of the day, we need to know what happened because we want answers for my late brother.”
