Zooming In on a PS5 Controller Will Show an Easter Egg That Not Many Know About

Something big is going to happen very soon.

Reader: The US Presidential Election?

Nope.

Reader: We’ll find a Covid-19 vaccine?

Well, maybe, but not so soon. I’m talking about the release of PlayStation 5.

Reader: Well that’s clearly more important than the two things I said.

Indeed it is. The PlayStation 5 will be released on 12 Nov, giving people all over the world an additional but greatly unnecessary reason to stay at home more.

Gamers are excited about its 8k output, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3D audio, but one Twitter user has found something else that will excite players.

And you won’t see it unless you’re looking for it.

Behold, the PS5 controller:

Designed with the aim of improving player immersion, the new controllers will have haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and are rumoured to have voice control and support wireless charging as well.

But if you look closer, and I mean really, really close, you’ll see a little easter egg.

Or rather, a million little easter eggs all over the controller.

While it appears that the new controllers have a textured material on the handles, a closer look reveals that the tiny dots are actually miniscule PlayStation symbols.

As you can see, the tiny symbols are small squares, triangles, circles, and X’s, just like the buttons on every PlayStation controller.

Some users pointed out that this not only looks cool, but may provide players with a better grip as well.

Interestingly, these tiny easter eggs can be found on the PS5 console too, which has the same textured symbols on the inside of its faceplate.

According to SVG, the new controllers have been lauded by critics who have been able to test it out.

Though it’s only been seen in white so far, there are some rumours that Sony will release them in black as well.

So, how much will it cost here in Singapore?

Local Prices

This probably won’t come as a shock to you, but it’s not exactly cheap.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will retail in Singapore for S$599, while the PlayStation 5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive will be on offer for S$729.

The bad news is that both controllers and games will be more expensive.

PS5 games will now be $10 more expensive, meaning games from Sony Interactive Entertainment will be priced between S$67.90 to S$97.90 at launch.

Moreover, a standalone DualSense Wireless Controller will cost a whopping S$99.90.

The PlayStation 5 will be available for purchase in Singapore on 19 Nov, a week after it comes out in the US.

It may be pricey, but that certainly won’t stop gamers from getting their hands on it.

The only question is, will you be buying one?
