S’porean Charged for Breaching Quarantine Order Just 30 Minutes Before The Order Ends

What can you do with half an hour?

You can prepare and cook many cups of bubble tea.

You can watch half an episode of Tiger King.

You can just close your eyes, lie on your bed and time travel to the next day.

Of you can breach your quarantine order, because 30 minutes is way too long to endure.

Reader Bao: You do know the Circuit Breaker has been extended, so we’ve to stay at home for more than 30 days?

Don’t remind me, Ah Bao.

S’porean Charged for Breaching Quarantine Order Just 30 Minutes Before The Order Ends

Do you know that you can be quarantined for a special case, and the Quarantine Order can be mere 4 days instead of 14 days?

I didn’t know that, too.

But a 22-year-old man, Tay Chun Hsien, got that order: he had been ordered by the Director of Medical Services to be isolated in his home, located along Chua Chu Kang North 7, from 19 March till 12pm on 22 March.

That’s a 4-day Quarantine Order.

This unique isolation case is only for a person who’s suspected to be a case, carrier or contact of an infectious disease, or if they have recently recovered or been treated for it.

But of course, most people would be served with a usual 14-day Quarantine Order.

The man, for some reason, decided to leave his house at 11:30am—exactly 30 minutes before the Quarantine Order expires.

If you leave 5 minutes earlier, you can say your watch doesn’t tally with others’ watch.

But 30 minutes?

It’s not revealed why he had done that.

Today, he was in court and said that he intended to plead guilty, and would not be engaging a lawyer.

He would be returning to court on 29 April 2020.

For that offence, he could be jailed up to six months or fined up to $10,000.

Well, good for him for admitting his guilt because if you’ve come to our app every day, you’d know that a certain guy who loves Bak Kut Teh and Facebook decided to defend himself in a high-profile case, and lost badly.

A Tale of BKT Lover Who’s Not Remorseful

Unlike Tay, BKT Lover didn’t appear in court and apologise to the world for his reckless behaviour.

Instead, he engaged a lawyer, and his defence is that he didn’t know the SHN starts on the day he arrived, he had just receiving a warning for his breach and so it should stay that way and that it wasn’t a serious offence.

For that, he’d have to forgo his bak kut teh and squat in prison for six weeks.

And interestingly enough, it was also revealed today that BKT Lover runs an online sales businesses.
